Walked past the bank house this morning and noticed all the tables now have menus and candles on them, so is there new management in place and will we have another eatery open soo?

It's been taken over by The Mill at Worston - good luck to them :)

I see in the Post & Star (can't remember which one - I have trouble telling the difference) it's been taken over by someone else.

Has anyone been in yet??

Staff in The Vine on Wednesday told me they'd been opening 11.00 am to 7.00 pm. But they were closed on Wednesday.

And currently no liquor licence, this is now granted by the local authority who should be jumping through hoops to arrange one, apparently they aren't.....

We simply cannot expect services carried out by public bodies to remain consistant now cuts are becoming effective

Next for a thrashing, the court services and parol and probation

Would it not be fair to reduce the number of MPs by the same % as other services? With less public servents to carry out their policies it makes sense to reduce the number of people who make policies as well.

I dont think the number of MP's or MEP's is too relevant but the numbers of new laws is

3,000 in 13 years under the Old Tories ( New Labour )

In part because each new keen MP is given a role or promised a role as a junior Minister and so then goes on a mission to be seen to be making a difference -
They do - fekking costly chaos and more laws which need more administration blah ruddy blah

Worston Mill looks a little tired these days and the food last time I was there was below par even for Stafford so I am not sure what the management can add to the Bankhouse - time will tell

Do they still allow children to run around unchecked?
Last time I was in the experience was somewhat spoiled by about half a dozen little darlings chasing each other around the place and, as you say, the food wasn't all it might have been.

Yup

I went to the opening when farmer Ferneyhough ( i think ) converted the building circa 1980

It was brilliant

Real Oak bar, etc

He sold it to, I think, Banks's, now Marstons and they ripped most of the Oak and turned it into one of their cloned pubs

Tragic

I think it is now owned independently but it may just be an offshoot in disguise ( probably not ) and has not really made a profit since 2006 ( like most pubs )

It has a jaded feel despite best efforts of staff, who are on the whole personable, but, like most pubs, is in need of investment and a couple of imaginative chefs ( tricky when your current clientele are chip eaters and cashflow is a problem )

The beer wasnt the best and it seems to rely on the Stan Robinson domino squad to keep it ticking over in the week

Its a place I want to succeed - a tricky balance for a pub outside most peoples horizons

......and whilst awaiting the booze licence the choice of soft drinks is far from eclectic however at least one can pick up the wi-fi from the vine......

We popped in yesterday looking to have a nice lunch and a drink, disappointing small menu of light bites (panini's, jacket etc) and not alcohol on (still). Since it's still being marketed as a cafe bar I'm guessing they're still waiting for a license.

I'd heard some good things about the Mill, although I'd never been, so I was looking forward to treating Goldilox to a nice lunch, but since we wanted something more substantial we headed off to Chambers for lunch instead.

I suspect the panini's etc would have been fine, it was just a little underwhelming.

I would like to take the time to thank you all for your previous posts about the Bankhouse, it has been very insitful, and look forward to anymore sugestions you may have.
We are indeed under new management, as of the beggining of June. We have been now granted a premisis licence after a wait of over 3 months. mainly due to the lack of communication and support recieved from the local authority.
Our menu is mainly based arround light snacks, including paninis, jackets, and sandwidges, with a few main meals on there aswell. We are now able to serve alcahol aswell, with lager on tap and a selection of wines, bottled beers etc. i would be very interested in listening to any sugestions as to the product range, espicially with regards to local beers etc.
We currently do not allow children. I am aware that this is a highly debateable area, but we believe that there is a need for a place where people can get a spot to eat, and a drink, without being disturbed by children running arround etc.
Thank-you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Welcome. What are the opening hours these days. It seemed to be a bit restricted early on in the re-incarnation.

Hi Bankhouse, welcome :)

I think your premises were always 'no children' so I doubt that will be a problem with anyone, there's plenty of places around that welcome children and not many that restrict, so jolly good for the child-free people.
