And the burgers? tell us about the bugers!......
not bad at all.. i had the chorizo and jack, and the missus had the light bite chicken burger with curly fries.. there were perfectly nice burgers, but if i'm honest i wasn't blown away.. certainly wasn't disappointed, but i've had nicer..

still, the complimentary champagne was nice, and it was a lovely atmosphere in there :)

I was told it would cost you 5p to use the new toilets at the Bear Gryll for the opening 7 days

But then I realised it was just Bob a Job week

no champagne for me although i went for the chorizo as well, i made a few observations whilst there.
1, On ordering guinness i wasn't asked cold or reg.
2, On ordering grub there was no upselling, i.e curly fries, sides etc.
3, Food was of good standard, however there was no check-back from staff.
4, From what i saw all the tables were laid for diners which may be a bit off putting for drinkers (granted it was lunchtime) the place setting included very large wine glasses.
5, I finished my food nearly 15mins before leaving yet my plate was still in front of me at departure time.
6, On leaving two members of staff were to busy chatting to acknowldge me or thank me for my custom.
7, Now it's not the cheapest of eateries and if they want me to continue parting with my cash they will have to improve on the above,
8, I didn't have the need to use the toilets so i cannot comment on them,
9,
10,
that's about it...... for now........

Is it a big ask?

The problem with catering in this country is that it is all to often thought as a stop gap - fill-in way of earning a few quid unlike the rest of the world where it is a profession and the earnings are perfomance related by the way of tips

A Paradigm shift is needed going forward to jump the shark and incentivise because you can't turn a tanker around with a speed boat change and I am passionate about this really cool train set thinking

Living the Victor Values it is then

How do I edit this?
Went to the Bear last night and was pretty happy with it all. Burgers were about £8.95, food was good. Service was a little shakey but I suspect that'll come with time (I asked for curly fries @ 50p extra - got normal chips but was charged the 50p anyhow - only realised after we'd left. Also it took us ages to get someone to bring the bill). Given you'd pay £7.95 for a burger in Apres I thought it was quite reasonable price wise but the desserts were steep. Liked the refurb too - smartened up without being radically different to what was there before.

What an excellent multi-dimensional joke - and in kit form, too. A point for you, Sir.

I went a couple of weeks ago and it was quite good, my dad got a shock though when he ordered the alday breakfast and this big plate arrived and there was just a tiny little muffin on it with nothing else.

If he had read the menu properly it does say it's just a muffin but he just saw allday breakfast and expected all the trimmings, I thought he was going to cry, ok maybe thats a slight over exageration but.....

Thought I'd posted about the Bear before because I like it a lot, but I went the other night having not been in a while (student budget like! ha) so here's my review:

Quickly seated to our pre-booked table. Drinks ordered (and remembered whose was whose) - great start to service. Then we ordered, and shortly later got brought the wrong meals. As did someone on a table next door, which a couple of our group reckoned was 'ours', anyway, we waited then for a while, and our food was brought out. Mine was spot on, as was others, really enjoyed it. However the two meals we 'thought' we'd seen taken to the table next door the 'eaters' said the bottom of the burgers were tough, as if they'd been left on a heated plate or something, to be honest they did look really tough, so that wasn't great, however they didn't moan as we don't like to. Puddings ordered etc, all as expected, and with a couple of really nice touches: with those who had Tea mince pies were served, and then with the bill - a mince pie for everyone... a little touch but the sort of thing that sets the LP out from the rest and is appreciated. Couple of the table staff were really brilliant, one lad whose worked their ages now, and a young girl, who were very good at their jobs. The others probably needed to smile a bit more haha.

Anyway in conclusion, my meal was brilliant as per usual, and I was left very full leaving. The food even seemed to have improved from last time even when I loved it. Will be back, but was left a little disappointed for the two whose burgers were tough, especially as one of them, it was their birthday meal!
