I love the idea of an Indian buffet, but every time lately I've tried somewhere other than narvana I've been disappointed. Was bengal spice last night, never again. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing technically wrong with the food, it was just nowhere near as good.
We've still not tried Narvana yet, had a takeaway from Mela Lounge last month....they asked us if we could collect cos they didn't want to deliver :( food was ok when it came, good sized portions with plenty of meat - but I found it a bit bland which is a shame :(

Buffet sounds ideal, plenty to try so more chance of finding something tasty.

I thoroughly recommend trying Narvana if you haven't been yet.

The menu has a few dishes that you don't usually see and the staff are very good at picking the right dish for you if you tell them what sort of things you like. They are happy to spend a long time explaining what the different dishes are and will cook them to your liking.

They've even cooked dishes that aren't on the menu for us.

We will try the new place but I must admit I'm not too keen on buffet style places unless they keep the food fresh.

Um, just to be pedantic....if they're expanding, then why close one place just to open in another? Surely that's not expanding, merely moving?

I see your point, The old diva was a fairly good sized place, could seat 100, but it wouldn't be big enough for a buffet style restaurant. Don't get me wrong it was never a quiet place they were always quite busy.

Cosmo has also opened up at Bentley bridge, so if there was a bigger place there for diva to have, there would be no point as Cosmo has all you can eat of everything.

Diva world won't just be Indian, they are taking their Italian business there and also adding Chinese to it, if the Chinese chefs are as goods the Indian ones that are moving with them, then it will be something special.

We've not found another Indian restaurant like it.

And it's not like Stafford has a shortage of Indian, Italian or Chinese restaurants is it?

Whilst I'm intrigued to try somewhere new and wish them well I would have preferred the building was used for a different type of restaurant that we actually don't already have such as a good Tapas, Mongolian or Greek restaurant.

Ah, just came on to express mi dissapointment at it only being an Indian buffet, but just so we are crystal clear, are you saying that the Diva restaurant in Stafford WILL be a world buffet then??!?! If so, I may enable 'excited' mode....

I went to Taybarns a few months back and although the quality wasn't great, the variety was fantastic.

Yes! Diva World will be a world buffet

what, like taybarns? or just indian & chinese? if it's the former, i am really looking forward to it!!

The mother-in-law took me to Taybarns a while back...

Its horrific!

i've heard the taybarns in newcastle/stoke ain't great, but i've been to the one in sheffield a couple of times and it was amazing

it wasn't even a case of "quantity over quality" - the food was a surprisingly good standard! we saw chaps hand spinning pizza dough, the meat just fell off the bone on the ribs, the hot dogs were proper sausages not those dodgy plasticine style cheapo tinned ones, etc.. loved it all!

T'was the Sheffield one I went to also, wouldn't agree that it was "amazing" but certainly ok to good. The ribs and pizza were very good, I agree on that one.

There's Bella Italia and Pizza Express, don't forget Pizza Hut and Frankie and Benny's has an Italian twist.

Bring back Spago's
