When I was in P&A the other evening Mr P&A had a plate of dolmades and very kindly offered me and a couple of mates one each. They were AMAZING! I've not seen them on the menu or mentioned on here...hopefully they'll be made available very soon! Mmmmmmmm!

we're supposed to be going to P&A tomorrow night for a couple of friends' birthday party.. i just called ahead to reserve a Porky Pie, cos it's the only one the missus likes, only to be told they stopped doing it months ago! i asked what pies they did have, and they're now basically all steak based.. moo pie, mini-moo pie, moo & blue, fabio.. there's chicken & asparagus, but asparagus is quite an acquired taste!

if i bring a pie from sainsbury's tomorrow night, P&A, can you heat it up for her? :teef:

any intentions of bringing the porky pie back? she absolutely loved it, bless her, and a few times we've popped in and it has been sold out, so i assume it was quite a popular one..

I recently had a Chicken and Asparagus Pie, and did not find it to be over-asparagussy..
excellent, she's says she's willing to give it a whirl.. taxi should be here any moment!

If she doesn't like it then just let me know and I'll pop down and finish it off..
it all worked out in the end.. she had sausage & mash, which was very nice.. decent sausages, looked like proper butcher's efforts rather than something from asda.. 4 of the buggers too, which ain't bad! although we all thought the mash was a little on the stingy side on this visit..

still, a minor point in an otherwise quality evening.. staff were very jovial and attentive, and the birthday girls got a couple of drinks free, which was nice :)

Well...had a great night as usual at P&A. A few of us opted for bangers & mash instead of pie and unfortunately it wasn't as good as it could have been.

I asked the young lady behind the bar about the sausages before we ordered and she said they were proper sausages from one of the butchers in the market. This was quite true, but proper butcher's sausages to me means big chunky sausages, whereas what we got was 4 thin sausages. They weren't bad, but I think most people would be expecting some substantial snags...

Other than that - tip top. The birthday girls even got a free drink each!

^^ Are the posts above not like watching the same football match on two different channels?...

Damn! I was planning on finishing it off. I'll just have to have a steak and mushroom tonight..

I'm going tonight for my first ever visit! Having a "leaving do" for people I used to work with 4 months ago! should be fun! Sausage and Mash is one of my favourite dishes! Is there any sort of lamb pie though? Can't beat a bit of lamb!

Haha db...just seen your post!
lol just goes to show, each to their own innit.. i personally prefer a decent skinny sausage.. dunno, they just seem more traditional to me.. any time i get them from the butcher they're about the size we had last night, whereas the ones i buy from the supermarket are always big chubby efforts, of uniform dimensions..

The first one of those that I had had almost too much rosemaryness, but the second was spot on. I presume that the first was rogue..

oooh! Are any of the pies listed on the website still being served? it list Mr Porky Pie and Minty Lamb Pie but it sounds like they aren't done any more. Just wondered how up to date the website is...

[Quote from Gramaisc 'Right, I have, at great personal expense, i.e., a steak and mushroom pie and a pint of Old Empire, organised a Forum table for six ( currently ) on Friday evening. That's me, Colossal, The Stafford Beast, Withnail ( TBC ) ToriRat and her "special friend" Nathaniel. The table is extensible, should subsequent requirements dictate.....

The recently more svelte Ms Rat may need to wear some items of a cheesey nature in order to avoid any unnecessary embarrassment...']

Trumpet & Strumpet also in attendance, look out for us.
