Football night for me.... have been to TPH a few times now with the travelzoo vouchers though so probably wouldn't have gone anyway to be honest. Have fun anyone who does go though.

Welcome to the forum TPH.
I genuinely hope you succeed but I am concerned that you made no mention of the service standards offered.

We have visited on many occasions during the first 6 months but I'm afraid I would need some convincing to return.

Some meals we have had have been great, but others have been extremely poor (cold food etc). Some waiting staff in Pillar restaurant great but I don't like hearing staff ridiculing other guests.

In the bar and coffee bar we have waited ridiculous amounts of time (over an hour once for a cold meat platter).

I adored the cocktail lounge and spent far too much money in there and generally was happy with the service there, however the occasional ascerbic manner of the cocktail waiter to customers he didn't feel met the standard, were at times a little much but he was on the most part professional, friendly and courteous.

The final visit was during the summer. We came in specifically to sit on the roof terrace. It was a dry calm late afternoon as on a number of previous visits we had been told it was closed as it was too windy (slight breeze in my opinion), too cold etc etc.
We arrived to find it closed yet again, so I sought out your manager to ask why and was told it was due to rain being forecasted. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, so I wanted to discuss what situations would allow the terrace to be open.
Your manager barely had the courtesy to look at me whilst mumbling something about health and safety.
I felt at that time, that it was clear that my custom was neither valued nor wanted and was fed up of spending not insignificant amounts of money on such erratic levels of service, so decamped to the lovely Swan courtyard and have stayed away since.

Thank you speak65 for wishing us all the success and we appreciate your support for our first 6 months of opening. We apologise that during that period we have let you down as described in your post.

Since your last visit we have conducted many training sessions which has seen a vast improvement to our service standards. In addition this has raised the quality of our staff and those that have been unable to make the grade have departed.

We are so pleased you have enjoyed our cocktail lounge and we do hope you will be able to return in the near future. As a new business we are learning fast and we do hope to offer our cocktail roof garden in a much more accessible manner this coming summer.

Please accept our apologies and we look forward to seeing you soon.

it can't be easy having hurdled over so many obstacles, that new businesses often face. it takes time to build the right team, I think you are doing the right think you're tackling issues head on and doing everything to resolve them. I hope in 2013 things continue to improve for you, I'm sure by talking to the public and trying out new ideas people would be foolish not to support you, as we want people to use our town and everything it has to offer and we can only achieve this by working with each other and giving businesses like yours the best possible chance,
