it can't be easy having hurdled over so many obstacles, that new businesses often face. it takes time to build the right team, I think you are doing the right think you're tackling issues head on and doing everything to resolve them. I hope in 2013 things continue to improve for you, I'm sure by talking to the public and trying out new ideas people would be foolish not to support you, as we want people to use our town and everything it has to offer and we can only achieve this by working with each other and giving businesses like yours the best possible chance,

I would like to echo Floss 67 points. I used to be a regular visitor of the Post House, but after going there on a couple of occasions and recieving a poor experience, (admittedly this was April last year) I stopped dining there and merely went to the Post House for the excellent coctails. Once I realised that a member of the Post House team and registered on the forum I decided to confront the Post House directly about my poor experience and was very pleased with the response I got from them. This to me, clearly shows that they have learnt from there initial mistakes and tackling complaints head on and offering some very good solutions.

Thanks dazza. We look forward to seeing you on a Wednesday.

A quick Google search will reveal many a steak night offered up and down the country in many bars, restaurants, hotels and clubs. I'm sure you may have seen a similar offer on your travels sometime. The idea has been around quite some time......

Thank you so much for your comments Floss 67.

We really appreciate your support and we are trying hard every single day to learn from mistakes and as you say "tackle any issues head on".

Thank you for giving us your chance.

OK - we're not associated or affiliated to TPH, but would just like to share our experience:

1. We absolutely love that we have a place to "show off "Stafford to out of town visitors. The Swan is also brilliant, but TPH is more contemporary, if you're not looking for traditional you can't beat TPH. Hats off to you for bringing this quality to Stafford.
2. There is nothing this good locally on this standard unless you want to travel to Brum - happy for anyone to disagree here? What is the competition on this standard?
3. We will continue to drink and eat here with our friends and support TPH - and we appreciate their Forum replies, which indicate a huge desire to improve, and we love that they used local traders for the refurb. Please keep going - we apprecate you, and your local emphasis.
4. We ate here around Christmas, and the food was exceptionally good for a fixed-price menu - really tasty
5. We occasionally wander-in and order the sharer platter - really nice, but needs more bread
6. Saturday afternoons seem to be a bit short on staff. Think you need to look at rotas.
7. Black-suited managers seem to wander around without serving customers - you would get tons more respect from both staff and customers if you stepped behind the bar and SERVED US. A black suit/manager status does not absolve you from customer service. Stop wearing your suits out from the inside and serve and speak to your customers.
8. If you are going to run a loyalty card scheme, at least get it working - and we will support it (it hasn't recognised our card last 4 times)
9. You are 95% there - please keep going. We appreciate your comittment , and you will reap the rewards in the next 2/3 years
10. Loved the invite to forum members and sorry we couldn't attend. Please try again - a printed 20% 1 -day voucher with a please forward message would be very tempting....and could get you loads more visitors.

I don't frequent the town too much nowadays so I can honestly say I've never been, but after reading the last few posts here, I am tempted.

On the two occasions I have been there for a meal, my card has worked, but I have no idea a) how many points I have, b) how many points I need, c) what the points get me... etc...

There is a 'Rewards' section on the website - http://www.theposthousestafford.co.uk/post-house-rewards-50604ad8d76e6.html - but it is not very illuminating.

Elsewhere, it says that "large groups of single sex guests may not be admitted". I like to think that, if I went there, I would be considered to be a single sex guest, but I will try not to arrive in a large group..

Thank you Rowley Reg for taking the time to give your feedback and wonderful feedback it is. Your support is much appreciated.

We are so proud of our venue too and love showing it off at any opportunity. We do have huge desire to continue to improve what we offer to our current customers and all new customers that we attract every day. It is through means like Stafford Forum that we receive such feedback to allow us to grow and change things as we learn from past experiences.

Your comment on staffing levels for a Saturday have been addressed over the last couple of weeks and we have taken the time to ensure that we are staffed to the correct level for the correct days.

I would like to apologise about the loyalty reward card scheme, we had a system put in place last year and unfortunately the magnetic strips on the cards are letting us down, we are currently in the process of correcting this and hope in the next few weeks we will be up and running with a very reliable scheme.

I don’t know if you are aware but during January we are running a 20% off food offer. I have attached the voucher to this post for you so all you need to do is print it off and bring it in. Anyone is welcome to use the voucher.

Once again thank you for your continued support.

Hi Gramaisc,

The Loyalty Reward card scheme works like this:

Every £1.00 spent at The Post House earns you 1 point on your Loyalty Reward card.
Each point is equivalent to 10p. Which works out at 10% discount off all you buy.

E.g. 100 points on your card means you can purchase £10.00 worth of food/drink using your points.

You can redeem any points you have on your card against purchases. The points are not awarded on special offers or promotions.

The Loyalty Reward card allows us to inform our card holders of all special offers and events coming up so you wont miss out.

Hope that clears up any confusion to do with the Loyalty Reward Card.

What an excellent, well thought out, and useful (to Forumites and to The Post House) post, Rowley Reg! Thanks very much for taking the time to provide your feedback. :)

An excellent idea. The Post House Stafford; if you want to do any "In conjunction with Stafford Forum" offers, by all means drop me a message. ;)

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
As an outsider one could reasonably expect any business to have improved its perfomance in the space of a year

As a speculator one could reasonably expect a competitor to look for a good portfolio acquisition

I heard that rumour a couple of weeks ago too, and apparently they had been told from the horse's mouth...
