I was under the impression the subsidence was caused by the old salt works. I used to live opposite John Wheeldon and most of the roads round there were effected by it. If i remember correctly it caused a few building to be torn down too.basil said:agree with others, going north from lotus on the sandon rd there is more patching (a technical term) than road surface.what the hell is below the surface that requires constant repair or is it linked to the old problem of subsidence or something more sinister?
Don't forget the pedestrians that just walk out in front of you coming from/going to the gap in the railings, even though there is a crossing a few yards away...mickyboy said:The road onto Queensville Retail park is now an absolute mare, not only do you have the speed bumps, but now just as you turn in there are what seem to be hundreds of pot holes, some pretty deep.
And there is the manhole cover as you leave which has been in a depression for years (bit like our economy). Hang on.......that answers why the potholes ain't been repaired.
Always made me smile when I saw the 'Humped Zebra Crossing' signsGramaisc said:known technically as 'Continuous Humping'
It's a shame they changed those before we could alter the sign to something more (in)appropriate.Catabatic said:Always made me smile when I saw the 'Humped Zebra Crossing' signsGramaisc said:known technically as 'Continuous Humping'
Oxford gardens has some beautiful gardens, and nearby wide open areas for recreation or execising of animals.Gramaisc said:Subsidence from the brine pumping hasn't really been a live issue for around thirty years. It hasn't caused the condititon of Sandon Road north of Lotus - it's just dog-rough, the road surface that is, not the rather high-class residents, of course.
I was, as you may have surmised, referring to the area northwards from Henry Street.Markerat said:are you talking about Henry street North ?

I think that you may already be in receipt of my opinion of the spare wheel arrangement on your somewhat elderly vehicle. Was your new nice wheel-brace in the vehicle at the time? I'm sure that it would have come in useful to re-attach the spare wheel carrier.Florence said:Talking of worst roads, or possibly the state of the roads, I went over a real bugger of a pothole this morning and my spare wheel fell off.
