You're allowed to burn smokeless fuel in most places. We're about to get a multi fuel burner in the reception room that's become my office; I see the coalman pass most weeks delivering smokeless fuel round the village and I'll be calling on him soon. We only burn wood at the moment.

This was delivering to the big old Cannock road houses. I'd love a house with several cosy rooms with lovely roaring coal/ log fire.
Although memories of having the fireplace in the lounge as the only heating source in our house , and only being able to light it at night when my parents came back home from work. .. ....

There are still no Smoke Control Areas in Stafford Borough.

There are some, I believe, in Cannock, Stoke and Burton - often, amusingly, in the vicinity of the new defunct coal mines.

There are some around the Wolverhampton border, too, I believe.

Mmm, Leek, Cheadle, Biddulph and Brown Edge are controlled, too.

We were pointed out , and highlighted on our deeds, by our Pickering & Butters solicitor , that we couldn't have any fires at all on Wildwood. ( As well as no caravans on driveways, chickens or pigeons...)

Our next door neighbours landlord went to the council about a wood burner flue next to his premises a couple of years ago though , and was told wood burners are ok as they are environmental friendly.

Some woodburners are acceptable in Smoke Control Zones - DEFRA has a certification scheme, I believe.

Restrictions in deeds are a separate matter, just as they can preclude fences around front gardens and that sort of thing - and they aren't usually very enforceable.

A lot of deeds will include a prohibition on running a business at a house, which would be an interesting thing to pursue in these days of working from home...

Noticed the entrance to the Guildhall shopping centre from Earl Street is closed. Also St Marys entrance is also taped off. Looks like Poundland is still open, so i'm guessing they probably just have Crabbery Street door open.

... this remarkable creosote blister on the underside of the Shed flue cowl.

It was 12C here today, plus being dry and calm, so it seemed like a good day to clean the flue - and a few other aerial jobs.
