Where my wife has her shop there are two females that do the bins. Have been for years.
Ooh, I can here all those keyboards being warmed up for some self-righteous indignation...Get them back to the kitchen where they belong

...that things are not always what they seem.
Pine trees are particularly prone to foaming.Lots of foam - yes, foam - at the base of trees. Yes, trees as in plural. It is not something i have noticed before.
I have only just remembered, and am going to attempt to get to the bottom of it...
Never seen it with them, but you don't see it that often, anyway - it can be due to water, from drizzly rain, running down the bark, mixing with soapy residues and carrying the foam, that occurs due to the knobbly bits that are encountered, down to the base. If the rain that's supplying the water isn't too copious, the foam isn't destroyed by the raindrops faster than it is being produced. This was predominantly Beech.
It was,of course, particularly wet today, and the instances i saw of it were where water was visibly 'streaming' down the trunk - in many instances the water running down the trunk was already 'foaming' before it hit the 'foam ball' at the base.... t can be due to water, from drizzly rain, running down the bark, mixing with soapy residues and carrying the foam, that occurs due to the knobbly bits that are encountered, down to the base...

It was everywhere - i'm more than a bit surprised i'd never seen it before as i tend to be quite observant, which rather makes me think it is an 'exceptional' occurrence.,sort of thing?
