How are we left in the lurch? The council has had its money and though it would be nice if the car park opened, lack of parking spaces in town is not an issue at the moment.

The car park will open when the other retail units open, if not before, I'm sure.

There may be plenty of space at the south end now, but losing Morrisons and the spaces at the other side is a problem, as even the council admits. Most people aren't going to walk from Riverside to see a few charity shops.

Anyway, there's more to LXB than Stafford.

I'm really only interested in how it affects Stafford.

Given how easy it is to get a parking space without queuing next to Plumbits now, parking isn't an issue round their at the present time. Sainsbury's car park is still open as well. Besides there's nothing up that end of town to go to except Café Nero now, as you say yourself, just charity shops and assorted crap.

When the two smaller units open on the site of the formerly proposed Morrisons, no doubt the car park will open also. Maybe, when all the construction has stopped, it will open then. I'm sure the new owners are keen to start getting a return on their investment as soon as possible.

In the meantime it just seems like getting worked up over nothing.

There's plenty of other things occurring in Stafford at the moment far more worthy of getting worked up about than this.

You forgot the bit about being subsidised by council taxpayers, then leaving them in the lurch and piling up all the profit in Jersey and the Caymans. Allegedly.

utter twaddle again PPPPPP

The taxpayer has come off quite well out of this. LXB is a private investment company that has given life to an end of town that neither SBC nor SCC could deal with an was the worst blight on the town.

It cost SBC a grand total of 2million quid, virtually the amount it would have cost to make safe and reopen the former multistorey eyesore.

what is the town left with, more employment, a redeveloped area, more people spending their cash, business rates through the roof and choices that have only been available elsewhere..........just terrible I know.

Wasn't it £2m plus another £0.75m for the carpark for luck? LXB is based in Jersey and has pots of money disappearing in the direction of the Cayman Islands. Why should Staffordians subsidise tax avoidance.

The two empty units opposite M&S were moist to say the least this afternoon, I'd not be moving into either in a hurry!

Prove it. Where does it say this or are you going to prove the fact the council paid 2 million quid for something that would have cost them 5 times more to knock down and rebuild ???

Sorry, I don't understand the question. Are they going to knock down Riverside and replace it with something waterproof that isn't designed to pollute the Sow every time it floods?

Doesn't really matter if it's £2m or £2k, the principle is the same. The council is funding an operation based offshore specifically to pay less tax.

As a council tax payer, then so are you.

Besides they are doing nothing illegal unless government change the rules and there is no chance of any government doing so, especially in these post-Brexit times when Britain is Open For Business.

In any case if we all stopped supporting businesses that avoided paying as much tax as possible we'd have no iPhones or Android phones and all those painfully earnest, beardy hipsters (who so tragically fail to realise that they are no longer trendy) would have nowhere to sip their Latte and opine about the gap between rich and poor as they text on their £700 iPhones or gaze at their £400 square smart watches.
