Item 22 on Agenda
Staffordshire Police Authority – 1 June 2011
DISPOSAL OF FORMER POLICE HEADQUARTERS, CANNOCK ROAD,
STAFFORD
Report of the Chief Constable
The appendix to this report is not for publication as it contains information
relating to financial or business affairs (Paragraph 3). The Author of this report
considers that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the
public interest in disclosing the information.
Purpose of the report
1. To update the Authority on the proposed timetable for the disposal of the
former Police Headquarters, Cannock Road, Stafford.
Background
2. The Authority is seeking to dispose of approximately 16 acres of land
which is situated on the junction of Cannock Road and Weeping Cross in
Stafford. Residential planning permission has been sought and a
resolution to grant has been received. The permission will be granted
once the Section 106 agreement is in place.
3. The timing of the marketing exercise has been slightly delayed due to the
completion of an OGC Tendering Exercise for the appointment of
commercial estate agents. This exercise is now in its final stages. The
marketing exercise is planned for the autumn of 2011 with a view to a
final disposal in 2012.
4. The attached report sets out further details of the disposal exercise and
seeks the Authority’s views on the process to enable the marketing
exercise to commence without delay.
Recommended: That
(1) the report be noted; and
(2) the timetable process for the marketing exercise and the
appointment of professional agents to support the exercise be
agreed.

Yeah, Wildwood, Baswich, Weeping Cross, Walton, Saxon Fields, they're all good places to live.daz100 said:I was told recently that there is no social housing on the entire estate - ths was a selling point by the estate agent.
Not quite true as I have been told that every new housing estate now has to have a small percentage of social housing so there are some homes on Saxonfields. Also there are some on Bluebell Hollow and there will have to be some on the new estate on the Police HQ when its built.daz100 said:I was told recently that there is no social housing on the entire estate - ths was a selling point by the estate agent.
We saw a bloke walking 2 dogs on the field behind Walton School . Someone must have phoned the coppers ,as a policecar had stopped first on Oldcroft road and then sped around to the other side of the field on Victoria Way and the copper shouted the bloke over to him.gilesjuk said:Talking of Hillcroft park, the playing fields are out of bounds to dog walkers and others unless you get written permission.
Has anyone ever written and got permission?
I see a few people walking dogs on there, I just assume they are risking it.
I'd be very suprised if that was the case.gilesjuk said:Although there was a car set light on someone's driveway on Wildwood according to the Upmystreet site.
Every new development has to have affordable housing as far as I'm aware (a percentage decided by the local planning authority) but I've not heard there's legislation about social housing?big-blue-wolf said:Not quite true as I have been told that every new housing estate now has to have a small percentage of social housing so there are some homes on Saxonfields.
