What's for dinner/tea?

Back on topic....

Not quite to recipe, but I just bought some jumbo chicken thighs from Asda and a walls haggis. I have some black pudding in the freezer, got the smoked streaky bacon, so may have a go at this tomorrow. Its a bit of a pain boning the chicken, but I do quite like leg meat TBH. Main reason though was there were no chicken breats with skin on that weren't extra special corn fed daily massaged GTi chicken at £14/kg!

Enjoying a drop of red.
Reluctantly* it's going to have to be E0E takeaway again tonight, forced down with a glass (or two) of red.

* Reluctantly as in I didn't need my arm twisting at all and can't wait!

Had a lovely meal in the Sun, chicken with bacon covered in a leek and garlic cream sauce. Lovely.

Tomorrow may well be armadillo day though. I have de-boned the chicken thighs, big buggers they are too. Have ended up with rectangles of chicken about 6" by 4" with skin on. Gonna stuff them in a bit and then freeze most of them, will post pics when I'm finished!

Initial prognosis, I cocked up! The thighs are too big, I put a bit too much black pudding under the skin, and I now have something a rasher of bacon won't fit round! I'd say each one is a little larger than a 1lb haggis, if it was for sale in a shop it would say serves 2-3. I also planned to use a little garlic oil on the skin before the bacon, but forgot.

In my defence my lunch at the sun possibly over lubricated my gastronomical hindbrain.

Thats better. Ended up weighing nearly 400g each :D
That's a monster! I got some chicken thighs out of the freezer this morning so am gonna make these tonight/tomorrow.

A woman from MacSween's was on Sunday Brunch yesterday and she suggested using a slice of haggis in place of the ham in Eggs Benedict...can't wait to try that!

Tesco, organic, free range & all that pork loin joint marked down from £13.00 to £4.00. Or then again , could be anything, looks like pork though.

Raclette =D (although I'm having to cheat on the cheese since our Sainsbury's isn't posh enough to stock it and I couldn't get to a Waitrose)

Just ate it, I feel heavy! I used the marbella la tasca sauce from poundland, was rather amazing if I'm honest. A slow flavour, but very bold when it hits. Absolutely loved it, did cook the chicken low and slow though. In a roaster bag for the first half then open and dry for the second, worked a treat with a little garlic olive oil towards the end.

Tonight were having..........wait for it.....

Sweet and sour cabbage with carrots and mash!
Haven't had this in years and was only reminded if it last week when oldest son asked for the recipe, used to make it when they were little and after years of hearing 'I don't like thaaaaat' to everything I ever cooked, I was quite touched that he did like things I made after all :)

Home made fishermans pie with home made parsley sauce chips and peas. All made yesterday so hubby can shove it the oven in while I finish off the VAT return.
