Tek-monkey, he say not always. :)
Too true! They finally fixed that one, but I have over 3 dozen free el paso items at home and used the profits to buy some of the xmas cake mixes for the kids to make.

They do overcharge a lot though, and often deals on the shelves don't appear on your receipt. They have a double the difference policy if you are overcharged, yet often refuse to adhere to it despite it clearly being displayed at customer services. The CS staff are often very mardy looking, although I guess I would be too if all I heard all day were peoples problems. Even so, they should vent their spleens at the store for making the **** ups not the customers who are being conned. Over on MSE they call these staff trouts, an apt name I feel.

Also, Tesco for a while ran a 'We are cheaper than everyone else and will refund any difference' campaign. If anyone took advantage they will know that the way Tesco decided they were cheaper was to refuse to compare a lot of items where they overcharged! I know of several cases where bottles of wine wouldn't copmpare, because the same bottle was often several pounds cheaper at Asda. Funnily enough once asda pushed their own 'we are cheaper' campaign Tesco withdrew theirs, because it was all lies anyway. Out of interest the one large shop I did at Asda actually compared more favourably with Sainsburys than Tesco. On a £70 spend Sansbo's was £2.45 more expensive and Tesco over a tenner!

I like shopping in LIDL.
You're never pestered by staff.
There's always something new and exotic to try.
It's small so you're in and out fairly quickly.
The checkout operators are really fast, so no waiting in queues.
No self-service checkouts that go wrong all the time.
In general, the basic items you want are usually cheaper than ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons etc.
Their own-brand food is just as good as the branded food and in some cases quarter of the price.

Aldi is along the same lines, but a bit too far out from Stafford on a bike.

I use the co-op mainly because it's just down the road. It has enough of the basics and while Tesco and ASDA have more pre-prepared foods I really should be cooking properly :) Co-op's egg noodles are the best, they're not all stuck together like ASDAs.

One of the other things that I like the most is that they rarely move stuff about - I'm only going shopping, not hunting!!..

I had a single Blonde in the PandA House, but I did lose a pint of blood this morning.

I use whichever I'm closest to.. have absolutely no loyalty.. though I do tend to avoid going to the cigarette kiosk at Tesco if the usual duo is there.. I've worked in shops before and it isn't a great job.. but they could at least try and smile

She's really nice and is always very pleasant and cheerful and if I remember rightly I'm pretty sure she's around 50 - you wouldn't think it would you?

Yvonne? I knew her family well when I was little, I'm pretty sure she's late 30s/early 40s at most.

She's got a son who's in his very early 20's and left university last year - he came in when I was there waiting for scratchcards and she was telling me about him. That was when she told me she was around 50 cos she said people didn't believe her that she's got a son his age. I'll check her name badge next time when I go in as we could be talking about different people.
