The holiday was good but glad to be back in England! I have some Powerflex exhaust hangers and 30ft of very 'bling' exhaust wrap ready to go on :D
Did you opt for the blingy crushed volcanic rock impregnated wrap?

Missed you at lunch, I popped in and spoke with t'other mark and got it booked in for monday. I forgot to mention to him at the time, but could you sort the alignment out on the car also please? I've now lowered it and it's running lol degrees of camber.
No problem. How far do you want us to go? Is it just camber and tracking or do we not have tasty adjustable platforms for a bit of corner weighting?

Just camber and toe please - apparently you can adjust the caster on these out of the factory - if so then max it out - up to 5deg apparently. The more the merrier :D

You're not wrong. 5 deg 11 minutes according to the system.

Yeah its the lava rock bling lol because its the only stuff they had in stock in the size and length i wanted

You got 60 feet of 2 inch? You sure you didn't just chose that as it will look the coolest next to the carbon fibre bonnet?

I got 30 feet i think (2x15ft) it will look awsome against the carbon bonnet, carbon air intake and red rocker cover

Suspension seems to be on a non-stop effort to settle at the moment, I think I'm running about -4 camber at the moment - turn in is very positive though :D

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
What does that exhaust wrap do? Does it stop it getting cold? :heyhey:

Oh, that's what it's for. I thought it was for covering up dubious welding when you've built a manifold ;)

Throw in some more caster and a touch of toe out on the rear and you'll be having a whale of a time!

Oh for sure, it'll be quite the track slag :D

The only problem with it is, and mainly due to the double wishbone, is it will wear the inside shoulders of my tyres down in double quick time. I could do with a compromise setup as it's my daily driver, so probably looking to run 5deg caster for super fun times, but limit the camber to around 1*45' - 2* at the front and 2*-2*30' at the rear.

I've been told that I want to run a little more at the rear than the front (seems alien to me, but I only know mcphearson systems and I've got quite a setup on the bmw now, incorporating a differential biased towards the front) by many MX5 lovers.

Out of interest what do you run on the hillclimber?

Reduces under bonnet temps and increases exhaust gas flow and scavenging. Also reduced exhaust noise inside the cabin (aparently)

I wouldn't hold your breath in respect of the noise damping, but if you're running hot then it'll definitely help with that. Good stuff the old exhaust wrap.

Its not exactly running hot, ive already got a bigger radiator and electric fan to sort the cooling but anything that helps keep the underbonnet temp down can only be a good thing. Im not a big fan of drilling big holes in the bumpers like many of my friends do

We've left the rear pretty low with just a touch of toe out for fun, I know it should be toe in for outright grip but we always wanted the car for fun. The front is just maxxed out on Camber and caster and again a touch of toe out. She turns in well and drifts nicely, although for sure we've compromised outright grip. We put the set up on when the car had 114 bhp so more grip than power. We wasted some grip in return for smiles. Now she's got 185 bhp I guess I should revisit the set up!

185bhp eh? What kind of FI did you use for that - charger or turbo?

Your setup sounds like a good laugh, not sure it's suitable for everyday use though!

Hey, just wondering if you could give a quick word of advice! The other half’s Nan has had a new car (I’m pretty sure you fixed the ABS on it?) so were in charge of selling her old one.

It’s a Peugeot 306 in gold and another family member took it for an mot and it failed on something to do with the breaks (the other half recons he can fix it and get it though an mot) BUT Nan didn’t realise that the insurance and tax has now run out on it.

So is there any legal way to get it to an MOT testing station without insurance and tax? Because by the time its MOT’d, taxed, fixed and insured I don’t think there’s much to be made on it.

She’s spoken to the scrap guy and he will give her £150 and pick it up. But it’s in great condition and only needs the breaks fixing and then could be worth £600 plus! Do you think people would buy it?

Thankyou!
