Aldi to open in stafford

The article suggests to me it's a smaller store, like a Tesco Express, rather than a full on supermarket?

Hopefully it'll take some of the load away from the Stone Aldi car park, too. It's tiny and I have had to postpone shopping a couple of times due to there being no parking at all.

No good for me as I don't drive, shame as I'd have visited otherwise. Certainly not hauling my shopping back to north end from there though!

Here's a link to the article online. We never get the paper newsletter here which is annoying. I see the lazy guy that hands them out walk right past our flat and give them to our neighbours but never to us because he has to walk a few more steps to get to our letter box. Really annoying!

Am confused. I get a newsletter delivered because I order it and pay for it from the newsagent.

I didn't think it was a free paper...or do certain areas get it complimentary?

Noooooooooooooo!

I'm not against Aldi but it's in completely the wrong place. The Lichfield Road is a nightmare without adding to the problems by increasing traffic going up it.

I'd go to somewhere (anywhere) else to avoid sitting in traffic slower than walking pace. .

It depends where you live though.

Will people go out of their way to travel to it?

I love Aldi but hardly ever go because I don't want to trek to Stone.

However for those that live on Wildwood, Baswich, Brocton, Milford, Queensville or on Radford bank then it's perfect.
For myself in Bednall, I would us it instead of going all the way into town, as may many from the above areas so the traffic actually going from Queensville to Stafford may in fact be less not more.

Swings and roundabouts etc....

The newsletter is not free.

Also, I can't see a link (apologies if I'm being blind).

Thats interesting, i used to work at Freedom as Mr Freedoms PA and i remember a time when BMW wanted to purchase the land and he said no....but thats was 6 years ago now.

The site to my recollection has never flooded, and it is actually quite a large site.

Im not sure what the residents of the side road will think as they used to hate any members of staff parking down there....

Oooh, will save me a few miles visiting the other Aldi stores. Will be able to walk down for the few oddments as well :) I'll miss the petrol station though as I quite often fill up there when the price is right. Can't imagine what the traffic will be like though as it's constantly a nightmare down that stretch .
The Co-op won't like it with so many of their stores close by .

Brilliant news that Aldi is finally coming to Stafford.
Terrible news it is being located at such a busy location. I suppose another set of traffic lights will be created which will be a nightmare.

Enjoying a drop of red.

I assume you mean the free Stafford edition of the Express and Star as that is free and the Newsletter is not. You wouldn't have found it in there anyway as the article was in the Newsletter.

I can't imagine it will be good for Aldi either, even if I wanted to shop specifically there I'd go to somewhere (anywhere) else to avoid sitting in traffic slower than walking pace. It's the same with Tesco even though it's my supermarket of choice, if I need something at a time when the traffic is awful I will drive further to go elsewhere and just get in and out.
When I used to use Tesco for my nightly shop, I used to park on Friars Terrace to avoid the traffic. Found I could be in, shopped and back at the car in less time that it would take to park on the car park.

Right yes sorry I got mixed up with the two. I did mean the Express and Star doesn't get dropped off. Been so long since they actually dropped one off that I forgot the name haha. The link to the article on the Staffordshire Newsletter is http://www.staffordshirenewsletter.co.uk/Stafford-Aldi-store-open/story-20450206-detail/story.html
