Buying a House

OK, so make them rent for a bit!

Back to the house mentioned above I saw it this weekend, is it just me or does it have a brick wall running around the back and side? Only got a brief glimpse but it looked like someone had a lovely house and garden once then sold every scrap of ground apart from the front garden to put industrial units on!

Great but it could be months before their new house is ready to be moved into.
Are they expecting you to wait or are they going to give you a date and move into rented.

Haven't got that far yet - at the moment I'm questioning a few things with the solicitors!

When I viewed the house the vendors said they had a new fuse box for the electrics and new boiler - both of which we saw.
Yet in the report they say no work has taken place on either the electrics or heating system - and haven't enclosed any certificates of safe completion etc.
Is any of this normal?? Seems dodgy to me - so have sent an email questioning it all.

Also 'Wendy' at Bridgfords says she hasn't been in contact with the vendors for months - and can't seem to get hold of them so date still pending...

I honestly would have walked away if I had seen a house I liked better (and have been looking!)

We had the same issue with ours, we tried to let them stay in the house and rent it back to them, mortgage lender said we'd need to re-apply for a buy to let mortgage to do this (FFS!). They moved into a rented flat in the end.

It's looking like they did the work themselves or someone without the right qualifications has done the work.

You may think now that this is the only house for you, but believe me (and others that have missed out on their "dream house") ....there is always something else round the corner.

This house seems so beset by problems I can't believe that you are even still interested.

Indeed, this sounds like much more trouble that its worth. Tell them you are revising your offer down 20-30% and they can take it or leave it.

When the leave it, you'll be free to find another, less problematic house. If they accept then you're in line to turn a trick on this property.

I know I know this sounds like a complete disaster (and in part it is)

But all this waiting is working for us - I currently have 1000 mini parts stacked in my living room and need to finish my car before we move - so the delayed date has worked perfectly for us!

I genuinely would have walked away if I had seen other houses I liked (and have been looking) okay this house isn't by any means 'the dream' but it ticks all the boxes - and nothing else has come close to ticking them!

My mortgage offer expires end of September but we should have exchanged contracts by then!

Going to email solicitors now as still haven't heard back about this boiler and fuse box business!

Arhrhhaahhhhgggg....

(Thankyou all for keeping me sane)
