Coppers on the beat.

I have seen two coppers patrolling, on foot, the whole length of Sandon Road tonight. I didn't stalk them too closely, obviously, but the chap seemed to have a helmet on and, was, therefore, probably a real one. I couldn't be so sure about the chick with him, but she seemed to be in a virtually identical uniform.

The odd PCSO is to be seen in Coton Fields, but I haven't seen a copper on foot here this century.

Not very helpful of you - didn't you ask if a) they were lost or b) their car had broken down

I suspect that they might have heard those before.

I did consider giving them the code to my key-box, so they could make a cup of tea now and then. If they ever come past again, then I'll have a go.

I don't know if any truth lies in it, but I've heard a girl has gone missing since 4:30pm ish today. I'm really hoping it's just a rumour.

They didn't seem to have any particular intention - just putting themselves about in a leisurely manner.

No 'missing person' appeal on the cop's website - let's hope it's just a rumour.

Plod are ( or were ) required to do X amount of hours in 'hi vis' per week

The 'response' teams are not included in this memo

I would say they were more likely to be specials. Last time I saw normal police officers walking down the road was when we had the unrest a few months ago. To be fair I would rather have them in cars, but patrolling round at low speed. That way they can respond quickly. The PCSO on mountain bikes are not a bad idea, but they dont seem to stop the anti social behaviour problems which surely would be the main benefit of having local officers on patrol. Plus they only work until 10pm.

on my way home from asda about 6 there was police everywhere and riot vans by south walls...at firsti thought it was because some chav decided to go on a robbin spree as i was unloading my shoppin into car ...but i doubt there would be that many police because of that...they were everywhere!

Given wmr posted that two days ago and nothing of substance has emerged since, i'd be inclined to think it was "just a rumour".

Calm thineself Miss Red.

Not making public an alleged kidnapping or missper may seem worrying - if this is the case - but sometimes a situation can be sensitive if the matter is concerning people known to each other and therefore a block is put on publicity to enable a calm solution

I have no knowledge of the incident to which you refer

The bloke copper was wearing a helmet, which I took to mean that he was a real one - and the bird looked real, as well, but I didn't feel it suitable to show such a close interest as would have been necessary for me to verify her status.

Bit of a stupid rumour given that a little boy was kidnapped in oldbury the other day! If it is true then parents have a right to know regardless of how sensitive it is! I would like to know if theres some nutter roaming around the area, it works in the usa but being clammed up britain we arnt allowed to hear info like that!

I heard on the radio the other day that around 250/300 under-16s are reported missing on the average day in England and Wales. It seems a fair chance that such a rumour is likely to be true most days in most areas....
