How long after symptoms did it take for the positive to show up? I know it was 5-6 days a while back, just wondering as my parents both have something currently and are testing negative for Covid but I think it might be too early to presume it's not Covid.

Hope everyone currently with it is doing well.
My first bout of it was after 6 days from feeling really ill, the 7th day I got even worse and that's when it started showing up positive.

3 days feeling terrible at Christmas before I was posative. I'm on day 4 now and still negative. Although there's is a virus going round that's very similar to covid. I've only got 1 test left....so I'll leave it another few days after today, as I'm not at work tomorrow.

Mine started as a very slight sore throat last Tuesday morning. A morning test returned a negative result, but a second test around 7pm the same day produced a fairly faint positive. So, no more than 10 or 11 hours from first noticeable symptoms to a positive test.
We've both had sore throats for 2 days now, and Eric isn't well but obviously can't tell us why. Hadn't really considered covid as we're not too ill, just very meh.

They're dropping like flies with it at the carers workplace. I'm still negative, but don't quite believe it won't change soon.

We have a new bug going round at the mo, can't remember what it's called, but it's sumat do with the respitory system. Unlike the Corona Virus, this has really knocked the patients for 6. With Covid, they're all bright as buttons, looking like nowt's wrong. This new thing, hardly anyone has got out of bed.

CRSV? (Chronic respiratory system virus)?
I’ve had another family member caught covid while in Stoke hospital!!
Avoided it all through the lockdowns etc. Been in Stoke for just over 2weeks, tested positive the day before they were due to be discharged. The really annoyingly stupid thing they’re not allowed visitors now until they test negative!!!🙄😤😤. Fortunately only mild symptoms so far.

Think I might have Covid again. Feels like I've been gargling with broken glass.

Supposed to be going to a gig tonight but I guess I'm skipping it now, Covid or not, as I don't want to be the person who goes to a crowded event knowing they're sick.

Besides, not sure there's much in it for me if my back isn't healed enough to dance yet and now I can't even sing... 😂

If your immune system has been healing a fracture for a few weeks, could that leave you more succeptible to viruses than usual, I wonder? Because it looks like this isn't Covid but it has really knocked me for 6, whereas mum and dad were just sneezing for a few days.

Just because you live under the same roof, it doesn't necessarily follow that you had the same illness.

I was really ill with COVID and off work for 3 weeks, the carer just had a sniffle.

Whatever I've had in the last 2 weeks is as bad as my COVID symptoms.

*My phone refuses to type COVID in anything other than capitals,no matter how many times I tell it not to.

Yeah I've felt for you, hope you feel better soon if you don't already!

People will have different reactions - and you can do without the sneezing...

I had a sneezing fit yesterday in Tesco. Must have been someone's perfume or something that suddenly set me off , but a good way of clearing the aisles . Never seen people move so quick!

Has anybody read the lockdown files by the telegraph? What are your opinions on what they uncover?

Not read them, just saw whatever people shared on FB, but my general feeling is if you elect tories don't be surprised when they act like tories.

cj1 didn't express this so I'm not responding directly to him, but I do find it weird that people think that if you take the pandemic seriously (and support the vaccines etc) then that must mean you have to support and defend the government, too. Believing in the need for preventative measures and thinking that the government are a bunch of useless, corrupt idiots acting out of self-interest are not mutually exclusive positions.
