Huge praise to salters toys today.

Today i went to Argos to buy some lego city or lego technic. I tried about 20 to 30 different items all were out of stock. When I enquired at the customer service desk I was also told there was none of these items in any of their local stores or available to order. So I tried Salters.

Salters had my preferred item and it was £2 cheaper than Argos and 30p cheaper than the entertainer. (Whenever I buy a product I always price check).

Sadly there is a perception that independents are more expensive than the multinational stores and have less availability. I found out today to my advantage that the opposite is true.

Salters have got loads of Lego in stock, so avoid the panic and go their first.

Massive skills to Bishops Offley christmas trees who let me drive away with my £35 tree despite not having paid for it!!! Their card machine let them down and I wasn't carrying enough cash, so they let me take the tree and pay later. Incredibly trusting in this day and age considering I was a total stranger to them! Reward for supporting the local trader!

Cuffy to Arriva buses ..waited half an hour at Radford bank bus stop for the 74 bus showing on the bus info screen, due at 5.06pm,....,never turned up at all !

First time in years we opted for a bus as couldn't get a taxi..... never again!

Should have kept walking like I usually do, but harder tottering along on heels.

If you use the Arriva buses app you can see "nearly" live bus maps as well as plan your journey.

To be fair the buses aren't usually too bad in general but the app saves me waiting in the rain or cold for too long and it's really handy if I want to get an extra pint in if I'm in the Picturehouse :)

We couldn't understand what happened to it with it showing on the screens as due at that time and then a couple of minutes after the time passed it disappeared off the screen. We definitely didn't miss it go past, as we had our eyes peeled . Haven't caught a bus for years ( I'd rather walk as I feel travel sick on them, even on the shortest of journeys). Think I'll be carrying my shoes and striding it out in my trainers if we can't get a taxi down to town for a few drinks in future.

Let that be a lesson in what the bus company really thinks about its customers.

I would like to recommend a coffee place called the Bee and Bean based on the customer service I experienced today, I had some time to kill today and happened to be walking by. Staff were really friendly and chatty considering they were probably quite busy and were happy to answer my questions without making me feel a nuisance, it made a nice change from some of the bigger coffee places.

I've not tried them yet. Cup a Cha are my favourite at the mo, they went beyond the call of duty to make the afternoon tea I brought for my mum before Christmas as a birthday present really special :)
The swan is my usual though - at least once or twice a week!!

Not everyone gets the full Withnail experience when they come to do what i do.

Sometimes they have to make do with an altogether inferior version.

But when they do get the real thing they love it.

And who can blame them?

Big skills to Acapeĺla. My wife needed assistance on what to buy me as a surprise gift. My wife was given top quality service and felt like she had her own personal shopper.

The advice / assistance given resulted in me getting a lovely item that fitted perfectly. We were also given a 20% discount on our next purchase.

We had great service when buying sons graduation suit from there as well. As Mrs @markpa12003 , felt like having a personal shopper!
I did a reccy of all the shops before son came back to Stafford, to narrow our search down on the day. The bloke in there was most helpful donning the suits I liked and posing for photos for me to send to son , and even put the one aside for him until the next day. (All he asked was that we called in anyway if we found one elsewhere to let him know to put it back on the rack.) In the end son chose the same suit but in in blue ,rather than the black one I had reserved. He was given shirts to try on with it, and even given tips on how to hide his shoelaces under his trousers. Also got a good discount for having the Stafford Card :)

BIG CUFFY to the staff in the Nationwide Building Society in Stafford . Just wasted an hour of our time trying to (unsuccessfully) open a joint savings account with them. Went in first thing and was told if we waited about 15 minutes we could open an account , as we would be next in. Two more couples arrived after us without appointments , and both were called in before us despite it being pointed out that we had been there first . We asked the assistant who first booked us in what was going on , she said that she had already noticed that the queue had been jumped and told her manageress who was supposed to be sorting it. Ten minutes later when still no-one had got back to us (an hour after we had walked in) we walked out!!!
Must point out though that the lady on the helpdesk who we first dealt with wasn't at fault at all, she tried her best.

Took our custom to Stafford Railway Building Society instead, where we are already customers , and managed to open a joint account in a matter of minutes. Skill points to the Stafford Railway Building Society staff .

Last time I used that app (couple of years ago now) half the busses didn’t have live trackers so it just showed their scheduled location.

In general, I’ve always found Arriva to be incredibly unreliable. They often didn’t actually arrive at the uni campus, and I saw them actually ignore the campus stop completely on quite a few occasions.

Missed quite a few lectures due to their busses being late in the morning when I lived off Wolverhampton Road too
