Desirable changes to the new forum...

As in, you would prefer to have Upcoming Events at the very top? If that's the general consensus, I'm happy to arrange it that way. :)
Ah, no. I actually meant the exact opposite - for me it would be Online, Recent Posts, Birthday - after that I don't really care..

I see that we now have 'Events' at the side of the Main Page. It seems a bit cluttered now
Fixed the CSS now so it is only a single column. :)

I want people to come to Stafford Forum not only to chat, but to find out what is happening all around Stafford, so it's important for me to have upcoming Events in Stafford displayed on the main page in a way that is easy to read!

Yeah, that's better - no complaints from me..

I think the right column looks great now. One thing I'd change, if poss, is to make it so that the date of the event appears within the little box. At the mo it shows as much of the title as poss, the address of the venue and the start time...but not when it's actually on.

Is that not a possibility? It seems pretty pointless displaying the time of an event but not a date. Both would be great, but time not date doesn't make sense.

I look at something and think "ooh...there's something on this Thursday; I wonder what time it's on", not "ooh, there's something on at 8pm; I wonder what date it's on"!

I was waiting until I could find a more graceful solution, but seeing as it's clearly causing you distress, I have hacked in a fix for now. :P

this is most likely a problem with your specific computer I'm afraid,
What happened to the 'edit' function? Or am i imagining things?

Edit - I take that back

As you have just discovered, you can still edit your posts, but I have had to set a time limit on it to stop people from posting one thing, generating a lot of replies, then editing their original post to make it seem as if those replies are in reference to something else!

This is currently set at 5 minutes, as I thought this would offer ample time to spot spelling mistakes/corrections that need to be made, but if the majority feel otherwise then by all means let me know. :)

Name and shame?

PS is it just me or does anyone else actually read the posters individual statement under their profile and think it is part of what they just wrote, like?

Maybe my browser? maybe a font change needed?

I wasn't 100% sure what you were referring to, but I assume you mean that you felt Forumite's signatures didn't stand out enough, and sometimes could be mistaken for part of the post? I have made a few cosmetic changes, so now one's signature is a bit more obvious, and should hopefully make it easier to distinguish where a post ends and a signature begins. :)

I have moved the sidebar to the left-hand side of the main page, as this is more 'web standard' (i.e. Facebook has the bar down the left, as did the old Forum, etc.). It might take a bit of getting used to for us old-timers, but I think it will be more intuitive for new users. :)

Of course, if that isn't the case, I will swap it back! Let me know your thoughts, though.
