Ever met anyone famous unexpectedly and in an unusual location!?!

First job out of university in the Middle East around 1988 and was told that we might have VIP visit. Took the advice to tidy up the office and make more of an effort to look presentable as assumed it would be the local Arab leader. Wasn't wrong the local leader turned up along with George H Bush Vice President of the USA and Jane Goodhall the primate expert. I had to be told that the American was the Vice President of the USA, he wasn't on my radar while at university, within a year he was president.

Got Queen Camilla visiting this morning. 👑 Won't bother going out in this torrential rain to wave to the Royal helicopter as it flies over on her way back home.

Where I am, a chap has taken it upon himself to start a hiking group and we have been on the first two now, I led the second one, yesterday, to help it all get going. I spotted some chaps heading off from the car park before us, with fairly 'professional- looking' camera equipment. That wasn't unusual, as the route is rather scenic, with some picturesque waterfalls, etc.

I was at the front and I, well in front of our group, caught up with them before the waterfalls, where they were clearly setting up for some filming. By this stage, I was aware that there were two women with them, who didn't seem to be directly involved with the technical side.

Being at the front of our group, I felt obliged to warm them of what was following me, so that we didn't blunder through some carefully set up shot.

One of the women looked vaguely familiar and, as I am often in the presence of people that I actually know, but can't place, I addressed my information through her, so that she wouldn't feel that I was ignoring her.

I told them that there would be twentyish following behind me, but they would pass through fairly quickly.

She responded in a way that suggested that she was no surer of who I was than I was of who she was.

The group passed through and, after people had got a few photos, etc, we moved on.

Later in the evening, I saw a post from a local group in the area of the walk which explained what was going on.

This revealed that the woman who looked a bit familiar was actually a well-known TV person here, a sort of Jeremy Paxman/Kate Adie type of fairly hard journalist-interviewer. They were filming for a future episode of an outdoor activities programme and she is from the area.

I'm sure that my investigations have been more effective and she is still unaware of who I am...

We met some film stars without knowing who they were in a Torremolinos hotel a few years ago. We could see it all being filmed from our balcony. The film crew had also taken over a nearby room directly across the pool from us , and were filming from that as well. They were filming on the promenade outside the hotel ( as we watched they were stopping certain members of the public walking past , and only having the ones they wanted in the shot , no fatties , scruffs etc) . Watched a scene with a car chase , the car screeching to a halt outside the hotel and the 'baddie' or 'goodie' running into the hotel grounds .....what seemed like millions of times to get it right. Then the hotel foyer was taken over for their filming, a right pain as struggled to even get out of the hotel at times. The scenes which were supposed to be in brilliant sunshine actually had bright lights and screens reflecting them for the sunshine. Interesting to see it being shot , and how long it actually takes to shoot just a few seconds of film.

Never did find out what the film was , and how famous the actors in it were . Probably got my undies drying on my balcony washing line somewhere in the background on some film. 😂

Arnold Machin in Eccleshall post office, checking his change after buying some stamps
and he'd be more familiar with the stamps than anyone else.
I bought two lesser lots from the auction at Garmelow Manor after his son died.

Mick Foley, Mike Chioda and a wide range of footballers, boxers, rugby players, cricketers and other sports folk via Zoom in my living room. Not exactly unexpected but unusual I would say. My daughter interviews them for the school podcast. I did meet Darren Harris unexpectedly in Liverpool when we went to film the Level Playing Field advert that some of you may have seen now at sports venues.
