Book 1 is now available from myself and Matador.
Retailers like Waterstones and W H Smith are only supplied when they actually place orders, so it may be a week or two before they receive stock. Amazon are unlikely to list a book as 'In stock' for at least a week.

I've just asked an 83 year old who can't remember it ever being called anything else..

..but, there could be reasons for that..
Oddly enough the owner of the Greenman Pub in Hixon Steve Rabjohns Owned the chains for many years before moving to Hixon..... they can have him back if they want...., just Kidding! He even has a framed 't' shirt with chains on it hanging in Our pub! I could ask him your question if still not arswered!

Yeah I remember Steve before he was there in 1989-93, you could ask him a question - is he going to buy one ? then he could have it on display in the Green Man so his customers can come in and read whilst enjoying a pint. I'm trying to think where I remember him from, maybne the old White Eagle Club on the Lichfield Road.

Another person told me this yesterday so I contacted the publisher. They have asked Amazon to do a stock up order, which they should have done automatically. The publisher sends stock to Amazon 3 times a week so this should push the order through. I am keeping in touch with the publisher on a daily basis to ensure this happens. I believe that you have the option to cancel with Amazon if the order is not fulfilled satisfactory.

Hi Darts, here is my moan to amazon and their reply. I know I can cancel, I'm just miffed as I really want the book and I thought by pre-ordering I would get it quickly.

Comments:The book is published and available, I would expect a small delay but I seriously think the ETA provided is pushing the boundaries. I could have got a signed copy last week but didn't as I thought I'd end up with two books.

I also don't think this is fair to you, I'd imagine the book would make a nice Christmas present for local pub goers, so you & your publisher are loosing out it their not delivering until after Christmas. Hopefully it'll be in the local book shops soon and then I'll cancel the order with amazon.

You do realise that I have been selling books for a week now, you can have one tomorrow if you like.

This is the best way to get the book, you can get it right away - signed by the author. Without Amazon taking their very large share John gets more of the money for his efforts. Having got my copy I can say that it is a very good read and well worth the money.

So glad you like it Noah.
Don't forget the book signing today.
Saturday at the Market Vaults 1pm - 4pm, if your unsure whether the book is something you would read, think about it as a Christmas Present for someone.

Amazon will be receiving books from the publisher 18 November 2013

Amazon delivered the Inns and Alehouses book yesterday, it's very interesting especially as I quite enjoy a bit of local history.
Shocked to find how many timber framed houses have been knocked down over the years, I imagine the town would be quite stunning now if some of them had been conserved.

Goldilox picked up a copy yesterday - it's awesome, I'm thinking some kind of google map would be helpful to work out where they all where and sheer number at different times, but that's because I'ma nerd and data is beautiful.

Looking forward to volume 2..

I was craving a map aswell, especially to place some of the bulldozed streets.

Some cities have have interactive app maps with bygone info, I'd love one of these for Stafford but would imagine its not viable with for our town with current budget restraints. I'm sure it would help with town planning seeing the natural flow of the town. I found it amazing from the book how busy Eastgate street must have once been compared to how quite it is now.

How do I edit this?
Went down to the Vaults yesterday to grab my copy - and fascinating reading it is too :)

edit: Ahhh I see my good lady has shared this information before I got here.....
