Bloods back mostly good, high white cell count and a temperature so likely an infection. Ultrasound and x ray back clear but a gas buildup, usually a sign of a blockage you can't see like stuffing from a toy...

Getting her back at 5, keep home overnight then take back tomorrow morning to assess if surgery needed.
Hope she's ok, extra fussing for Mango tonight from me please, maybe a big sloopy kiss too.

Charlie-cat is worrying me, ive caught him a few times on the litter (he hates using the litter)..... We've been letting him out day & night now to keep another bladder infection at bay (at the risk of him being run over).....but, he's on his last chance....the next time he gets it will we a trip to the vets to be PTS.....it's just not fair to keep him with this illness... I feel terrible knowing it's only a matter of time.

My friend lost his husky recently, he's heartbroken....nothing compares to loosing a pet......you choose to home them with you, you raise and are for them, you tend the everything they need, food, medical attention, fun, joy, entertainment......it's so devastating when their time ends, no matter if it's a mouse, bird, Guinea pig, cat, dog, lizard or amphibian.....that animal is part of your life, part of your family, you have chosen them to be a part of it, for a lot of people it's their baby......

Nothing compares to loosing a beloved pet.

This last year we've claimed for under £200 for mango, with £100 excess that means we've claimed about £60. Her premium has doubled to £700 per year!

Cancelled the insurance, even the incident this last 2 weeks didn't end up costing that much! They don't even know about that yet so can't affect the renewal price.

I'm a non insurer. Save the premium each month and you will be quids in. Assuming a normal healthy dog the chances of claiming are slim and take off the excess on the claim and for me it's a fools game. I have two mongrels though so they come healthy. My 10 year old rescue has never had any vets treatment apart from wormer, flea treatment and jabs. I'd be thousands down over his life time!

I got a good deal with cashback on year 1, so cost about 40 quid per dog. After finding mangos issues we thought it'd be wise to keep the cover going but now it's about 4x what we know we'll be paying out. No chance.

Got my claim in before mango's insurance expired, all paid out, but no way I'm paying more to insure her than both cars so now we'll just have to keep savings.

On to an entirely different issue, barking. Just before I left for Riga our neighbour came to complain that the dogs apparently have been barking constantly whenever we're out for the last 6 months. We had no idea, and she'd never mentioned it, but seemed rather annoyed this time! Obviously now we know we need to fix it, wish she'd said something 6 months ago though as now it's learned behaviour.

I separated them immediately, Ollie upstairs and Mango down whenever left alone, and can see it's always Mango. If Ollie is with her he'll bark too, but if on their own it's just her. A camera shows that she does indeed do it a lot, I set Alexa while away to play irritating jazz music at her whenever she barks but after getting home I decided I'd bark too if I had that playing and it probably just wound the neighbours up more! This has all been done remote, my brother was here to look after them while we were away, and although he took some time off work for them they were still alone 3 days while we were away.

I'm now looking for other ways to calm her, any ideas? It's definitely a worry thing, she's a keen herder and I think she's acutely aware she's lost her sheep so to speak. She gets upset if we try to split up on walks for example, we should all be together. To that end I think we need some way to make her feel people are still there, so maybe a chat show or something that constantly talks? There's also those anti bark collars which I don't really want to use but I know it must be annoying for the neighbours, just wish they'd said something last year!

So, any ideas?

Try those dog calming plug in scent things.

It settled Bee's anxiety down when she was left alone and she doesn't need them now. She was chewing things up though so may be different type of anxiety from barking.

Also try going out and coming back in short intervals so that the dogs know you're coming back. As the intervals increase she'll get used to you being out.

Again she may be barking for other reasons but may be worth trying the above initially.

We noticed a lot of the barking on Tuesday was directed outside the back, with no idea why. Now we're home we see that the big tree next door has had a good few meters cut off, so can safely assume thats what was wrong (collies have a bit of an OCD thing about stuff being not where it should, people in a tree would have set her right off).

OK, thats better, as I was quite worried about how manic she was. Still barked other days just not as much, so still needs addressing.

I need some advice badly , I’m worried sick about my collie.
It all started a week or so ago when she became unwell , sickness and diarrhoea. After a few days she began refusing food and was still vomiting etc I took her to vets (Monday ) They gave her a good check over , injected her with an anti sickness drug and prescribed omeprazole.
Since then she hasn’t been sick etc but I can’t get her to eat a single bite of food ! I mean nothing !
Took her back to vets yesterday , vet checked her mouth , all fine . Vet gave her food … she scoffed the lot up !!
Brought her home , still won’t eat. Tried all her favourite foods , including human foods . I even went out and brought multiple other foods. Wet, dry , different flavours , treats … won’t touch any of it.
Iv tried feeding her in different locations around house … even whilst out on a walk.
She looks so bloody depressed ! Just lays on sofa

Poor thing! What food did the vets give?

Could she be associating home with where the food made her ill? Maybe try outside, although human food usually cures everything!

Do you know what made her ill? Was it something she ate, a bug she picked up? Our dogs are much healthier since we stopped walking on the local dog field!

no Idea what made her ill , we have the same daily walking route. I actually brought some of the same food vets have her !

She been out today playing fetch at the field . Plenty of energy , she’s really happy whilst she outside , running around tail wagging . Soon as we get home she’s all miserable again though. Like a different dog , never seen her like this before.
I have her a chicken dipper earlier . She took it but then chewed it into tiny pieces and spits it out. It’s like she doesn’t trust any of the food I give her

Unless it’s the omeprazole ? She still has 2 more days worth to take … side effects can include nausea and loss of appetite according to Google . But then that doesn’t explain why she ate at the vets

Is it tablets? How is she with them? Ollie did not like us disguising meds with food, he weirdly prefers his meds as they come. Still doesn't like them but very wary of food when meds were hidden in it.

Mango, not so much. She'll eat anything and just hope it's OK!

Yea it’s tablets … Twix won’t let anyone near her mouth since she’s been Ill so it’s a case of prying her mouth open and dropping them to back of her throat then holding her mouth closed until she swallows. Not a pleasant experience at all.
Previously with worming tablets etc I used to just throw a piece of chicken to her then throw her the tablet and she would eat the tablet , assuming it was more chicken 😂

Yeah, with ollie you have yo open the dog manually, insert the tablet, close til gone!

He's actually cautious with all food now, delicately takes food from you and tests it before he eats it. Even pizza crusts, which HD loves!

My dog adores rich tea biscuits . She usually gets so excited when Tesco deliver , she won’t stop pestering till she’s had 2 of them. The look of disgust she gives if u give her a broken one is hilarious
