Fighting a chest infection that saw me having to go to the walk-in last Thursday. Mostly I'm winning thanks to the antibiotics but it's trying to rally today. Having achy lungs is very tiresome and tiring it turns out.

Is it done by the council or a private 'enterprise'?
It's a council run scheme. Just stops those who want to avoid paying to work in town or them that go on their holidays for 2 weeks. There int enough spaces for the residents as it is.
I'm sure on the original plans for the new road, we had spaces outside the houses here, if we didn't, then we should have. Bloomin waste of space that bit of grass and hedge. Just somewhere for drunks use as a toilet and litter bugs to drop their crap.

Always curious on this sort of thing if the amount of patrols is based on the likelihood of getting a fine out it, rather than making sure the residents are looked after. It's like car parks, if pay on exit you don't even issue fines but you make more money having pay on entry then employing people to watch for expired tickets. In the days of ANPR there is even less need to pre pay as the same tech that catches people out could be used to assign their charges on leaving via the same machines, but everyone is always out to find more ways to take.

Living on the Doxey rd, we don't see much of what happens on the estate. @gilbert grape on the other hand - not giving owt away, we've said we're neighbours before - they might see him more, because they're further into Castletown than we are.

Being in the house more than out of it, I rarely see anybody of their ilk, any more. There used to be certain times of day when they scoured, but I'm intermittently out these days, whereas if I ever used my flexi time and got to work late, I'd get done if I was on yellows over night.
There are, of course, plans being looked into for taking some spaces away, turning some one way streets into one way for motors but two way for bikes! Cos that won;t cause any issues, will it!

Had a bit of a dampers put on tonight's anniversary celebration. Went to put my necklace on again tonight and it's gone out of the box. 😭
(Know I had it here back in hotel room last night , as hubby had to unhook the hard catch for me).
Got no safe , so hid it best I could, but ....

Told reception who are going to ask housekeeping if they have 'found' one, but not holding out much hope.

Lesson learnt , carry everything around with me In future ! The car keys are coming out with me in my handbag tonight!

( A Torquay hotel once had loads of guests cars nicked, when thieves found hidden car keys in suitcases etc . Our dog saved our room that time as we'd left her in the room and she must have scared them off )

Oh wel

Do you have it insured? House contents? What a horrible thing to happen.

Never thought about house policy, although apart from photos of me wearing it last night I can't really prove I had it & its been nicked.
Bit of a wash out of an anniversary. Hubby feeling ill tonight , back in hotel bar sitting in different parts. He wants to sit where gale force wind is coming in the door, so he can sit there. I'm across the room where its warmer on my own with my cider.:pint:and a couple of doggies to fuss

Well , anniversary ended up hubby going to bed after only having 2 drinks all night , and me staying chatting to the couple from Tamworth with the 2 dogs.
One bit of luck , he left the door slightly open so I could get in 😂

The council car parks I’m pretty sure aren’t even checked in the off-peak hours

I’ve never had sentry triggered by a parking gnome, even when parking facing a wall where they’d have to get real close to check for the ticket.

Tried to chase the missing discounts on my virgin media contract, their CS got me to cancel instead. Honestly, how the hell are they still going?

Mentioned the missing chain again whilst checking out of hotel. This time a different male receptionist did a thorough search of the room to make sure yesterdays housekeeper ( who just happens to be off today..) hadn't somehow sent jewellery flying. "By the time I've finished the room really will look like it's been burgled!"
He was right , upturned the beds and all furniture completely. A few lost phone chargers unearthed right under the divan beds, but still no sign of my chain.:(
Apologetic General manager asked to see me in his office , and took copies of my photos I'd sent to son whilst wearing it the night before in the hotel dining room for a record of what it looks like and all my details.

Don't know what good that will do , but hey-ho, at least if he mentions it to staff it may prevent others having stuff nicked in the future.( no safes in rooms)

Back home now , hubby gone to bed ill and refusing to do a covid test " waste of time , if I've got it I've got it"
Plumber coming "sometime" to look what's going on with leaking loo, so stuck in for rest of day.

Happy holidays!
