Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

Looking for a plasterer...

Once chap messaged me and I asked for pictures of previous work.

He sent me an image of his business card - just his name and number...

Apparently he doesn't have any pictures because it's all word of mouth!

Nope!
If you are Stafford based then try Tony Reay.

Thank you all for the plasterer recommendations however unless they're willing to come to north Aberdeenshire it's a bit of a trek!

I'm just fed up of asking for trade recommendations locally and getting cowboys recommend themselves!!

How does one actually get into a dentist these days? The community emergency dental line rings out for an hour with no answer, every dentist seems to be booked and won't take in an emergency appointment unless 111 specifically refer you to them, and of course 111 just refers you to the aforementioned community line that won't pick up.

It seems to be an endless spiral of uselessness.

Ffs, my days been crap, got a lift to work but walked home to find a note saying the bloke who collided with our cars hadn't reported it to either his insurers or the police, then had 3 visits from him, with him having a go for us reporting the accident to the insurers and a police, because "its not an accident if no ones hurt and it doesn't happen on a main Rd".

Then got a call saying mine & my neighbours car will both likely be written off. (hers is brand new, miness an old banger and any payout won't cover the finance left on it).

All after being dragged into meetings at work to tell us there are more redundancys in our store due to happen by April.

Angry is the word of the day. 🤬🤬🤬

Did he hit and run or something? Surely he would have known if you exchanged details? Or did you get his details from a camera?

If he's come round then he's admitting he's guilty.

Get a repair or replacement quote and ask him to pay if he comes again.

It's your "claim" regardless of his view of whether it's an accident and he's the dick that's caused it.

Ps if you need a lift PM me and I'll help if I can at all.

Had a conversation with the passport authority about getting a Certified True Copy of my UK passport, was told it wasn't possible after being told it was possible last week. Told the passport customer services this and that British Embassy's around the world provide this service, was recommended to go to the nearest British Embassy, is there one in Stafford? Gave up waiting after 120 mins.

He reversed into my neighbours car at speed, which in turn hit my car and shunted us both back by about 8ft +, her car is a certain write off, his insurance told me mine probably will be to.

I ran out when it happened as I thought he may have had a heart attack, I went to tap on his passenger window but he drove off.

When he returned he claimed he didn't know what had happened, & when he opened his drivers door we (me & 2 other witnesses) noticed he was only wearing socks..... 1 slipper (carpet slipper) was under the clutch pedal, the other was in the passenger foot well. He then claimed his foot had slipped.

He didn't report the accident either to his insurers, or the police.

He's admitted liability to his insurers, but told them he was wearing shoes and it was raining heavily, he wasn't & it wasn't at the time.

He doesn't understand why we reported it to the insurers (not sure he knows the police are involved)... He's asked both of us to get quotes for the repairs and he will give us cash.... I don't think he understands he's written off a year old Quashqai (it's a specialised disability vehicle), and (possibly) my 59 plate fiesta.

Its all a complete mess, I feel so sorry for him as he wouldn't have meant for it to happen, but he may be unfit to drive.... There was a group of school kids right next to the cars when it happened & thank god he hit stationary cars not the kids.

Thank you for the kind offer @Thehooperman im pretty sure you wouldn't be up for taking me to work at 6.30am every day though.... Luckily I've managed to arrange some time off & fingers crossed my car is repairable.

Sorry to hear/read what has happened to you, it is a bugger when it is no fault of your own. I had a similar thing back in August. A drunk driver crashed into my neighbours car which in turn hit mine. My car just had a cracked bumper (+ it is a company car), my neighbour ended up with a car that was written-off while he was in the house eating his dinner!. Finally found out the outcome of the court case a few weeks ago. The driver was banned for 4 years & as well as doing unpaid work has also agreed to undertake a 'rehabilitation course'.

That's terrible, a drunk driver too!? I'd just come in the house from getting my shopping out of the boot, a few minutes the other way & I would have been hit by my own car.

I’m so over World book day. I’ve always thought it was a bit rubbish that both of my daughters schools didn’t do dress up when they were small and had overflowing dress up boxes.

Now though, for some strange and unhinged reason both schools this year have decided it’s dress up day 😩 we donated all the dress up clothes to Katharine house about a month ago.

I’m telling them to go in their own clothes but apparently that’s not good enough. They both want expensive and elaborate costumes from Amazon and apparently I’m the worst parent in the world because I’ve got better things to spend £83 on 🤦🏻‍♀️ I might just keep them off for the day.

In Year 5 we had to write an autobiography… so a bunch of us came as ourselves on World Book Day for the next 2 years seeing as we were now a book character.

Always hated the dress up days tbh. Not my thing one bit.

Butters John Bee apparently want to sell my house.
They tried to talk me into putting my parents up for auction , rather than selling privately ,as they reckoned it wouldn't sell easily and valued it really low . The blokes attitude got quite nasty when he rang to chase me up , telling me I was making a big mistake as it wouldn't sell easily , when I told him we were going with another estate agent in town instead.
Ended up going to sealed bids within the week with the other agent , with people fighting for it !
