Got a walk in around Tamar Lake this morning in pleasant sunshine, has been grey and wet all week !! Then a mate came round to gather up what was left of my bottom fence for his wood burner .. saves me having to clear it all out. He wasn't too happy, lost £2000 worth of green houses to Storm Eunice and the insurance company are dicking around. Also he tells me there is now a green house shortage, you might have to wait months before you buy a new one !!! Apparently they're all made in China now ..

Enjoying a drop of red.
Off to the RAF museum in Hendon for a very brief visit today, then straight home.
Finally arrived back in Formby after a much longer than expected day. Made the right decision to go by bike because seemingly all and sundry road users were trying to cause as many hold ups as possible, so being able to cut through it all was a definate plus. Besides it was a lovely sunny day and even though the heated seat and grips were on all the time it was a great day for a ride.

Was longer than expected because, after concluding my business there, having a good look round all the lovely aircraft was just too much to resist. As was the coffee shop cake, which had to be sampled twice, to make sure my initial assessment was correct.

Can heartily recommend a visit to the museum of you're ever in that neck of the woods.

Gang, I had A DAY yesterday! I don't want to make something that happened to somebody else all about me but my involvement in it is certainly in keeping with my usual luck.

Dad went to have impacted wax removed from his ears. Mum got a call from the place saying he'd collapsed during the procedure, was OK but was a bit wobbly and had hurt his leg. I told mum I'd walk into town to meet him (I don't drive) and get him on a bus and make sure he gets home OK.

Halfway to town mum calls me to say he's been taken to the hospital. I only have enough money for one bus journey so I walk to the hospital which is about a 60 minute walk in total. Once I get there I notice A&E is busy so I signal I'm there from the entrance (his phone has been off) and that I'll wait outside. 20 minutes later he texts me to say there is currently a 4 hour wait and I should go home. Mum calls and says my sister will pick him up when he's out so I walk back into town then get a bus home.

An hour or so later mum tells me he's fed up and thinking of leaving. He said he's feeling sick, dizzy and has really hurt his leg so we both think he should stay but he's stubborn so I decide I'm going to get the bus into town and walk to the hospital again to keep him company for however long it is before he's seen to keep him there, then get a lift home with my sister when she picks him up.

I get to the bus stop at 6:50 and see that the last bus was at 6:45... it's also prime taxi time on a Friday night, meaning none are available for a while, so I have to walk the whole way again. I don't mind walking as I do it a lot anyway but I have a bad ankle at the minute so not great news.

I arrive at the hospital carpark an hour later when dad texts me to say he's been moved to the second waiting room. I ask at reception about seeing him and am told it is too busy so I'm not allowed in. I don't mind that much because the fact he's in the second waiting area now means he's not a "flight risk" anymore but it does mean I had to do the hour walk again, as I figured I would get home quicker that way than having to stand outside in the cold until he was released.... so all in all I walked an hour there, an hour there again later and then another hour back pretty much for nothing.

Eventually I think he arrived home at half past midnight after 9 hours in A&E with news of a broken foot and a cast having been put on. Seems it was quite a bad break as he's got to go back in for injections the next few days.

Comedian at the Gatehouse reminds me of seeing Mark Steel there a few years ago.

Your interest in there might suggest a connection with 16MU.

He's generally hung around the Shed today, but he does seem to be getting rather more mobile. He's climbed on top of the woodpile - and he's created a little shed for himself, in front on my shed. I've turned on the outdoor speakers and there's a fairly subdued level of entertainment going on. I went out shopping this afternoon and, on my return, I took advantage of his absence to check if his shed needed a better roof, but he's used a piece of plywood and I'm not going to improve much on that. I was also concerned that he might be installing a fire...

All in all, he seems to be getting along steadily better and being less concerned about my proximity - he's also eating quite well.
I didn't report on him yesterday, as events were evolving more rapidly - and there was an element of risk in his approach.

He seemed a lot happier and was eating well, sunbathing between meals. He did try a short test-flight in the back garden, which went well, apart from the expected landing gear issues. This, plus his friends' exhortations, led him to hop up to the front garden, in view of the colony across the road. I kept a discrete watch, but I failed to see him actually leaving. Although it was only a short journey, they did bring him food for it again. The lack of any evidence to the contrary, in this garden or under the trees across the road, might suggest that he did make it back there and he may now continue his convalescence there, I hope.

We'll see if I ever spot him again...
