That's the thing all the parcels sent and awaiting delivery were recorded!
Can u explain your statement please

Im blonde
The parcels I send and am waiting for were sent royal mail recorded post, which is signed for and sort of tracked

They are missing in action though ;)
Just to let you know Recorded isnt trackable, its handled in exactly the same way as first or second class mail. the only difference being they get a signature at the other end - and in fact they dont always even do this. I did an experiment with my ebaying for a month to see how many parcels went astray recorded compared to first class and although the actual amount was exactly the same, on checking online that they had actually arrived and been signed for about an eighth of all parcels sent in the month were never signed for but I received feedback to say they had arrived. Given this fact, I now send first class with a free proof of postage certificate which at least means I can claim compensation in the event of it going missing. dont see the point of paying extra for a service you dont get!

Recorded delivery parcels are only tracked once they have been delivered, Royal Mail do not class them as missing until 15 working days after they have been posted.

It's not exactly tracking is it! It's 15 working days as well, if you have a customer waiting, you can't exoect them to wait that long for a refund, we always end up refunding the customer then waiting for our refund from RM - putting us out of pocket for how ever long it takes them to sort it out. Until fairly recently they only refunded the cost of the item and not the posting - which used to get my back up no end cos I can't stand paying for a service i don't receive - last few claims though they have refunded the postage as well.

To be completely fair to RM of the times I have made a claim about 30% of the time I get the parcel anyway after the payout!

Yes we have had that happen, although that does actually mean the parcel has taken at least three weeks to arrive lol

I just love the way they'll swear blind its not in the depot, then the same person will give it you a few weeks later moaning that they've held onto it for weeks and you should really pick things up sooner.

I just don't get it, surely a camera that snaps every parcel being returned because of non-delivery then stores these details in a database would be quicker to use, and also make missed parcels a LOT easier to find? Maybe I should have a word with RM, discout price of just 1 million for the software....

They need to get with it and computerise the system, writing everything down in a book is ridiculous in this day and age. Also the posties need to make sure they put the cards through the door if someone isn't it, I've had customers find parcels in the shed, with the neighbour and chucked over the garden gate - some weren't found for over a week and none of them had a card through the door!

Colossal had a parcel left and an undated card put through the door saying 'left on the green bin' ( fair enough, the green bin is out of sight and under cover ) - Florence got home before him and the card was retained for future use. On a suitable day, i.e, when he was anticipating the receipt of an extra special bundle of comics, would be home first and the green bin would be collected in the afternoon, the card was left on the mat with the wording altered to read 'left in the green bin' and that day's date added. His safely delivered package was hidden and the trap was laid.

He startled the neighbourhood by running around, hyper-ventilating, issuing foul oaths and looking in all the empty bins - several times...

Oh, how we laughed....

Now awaiting 14 parcels, nothing delivered again today

I went into the sorting office and they told me that they have a 4 week back log due to the snow! Which I pointed out lasted a few days, I asked the guy to speak to his manager but he was out. I asked him to look in his book but he said it would take to long! Why have they not got a computer !! 2010 and he's using a book and pen to record thousands of pages of information! Ridiculous !

So no parcels and Christmas is looking ropey, Internet works it's the delivery end which is weak :(

We had about 3 post deliveries today - and my friend reports the parcel I sent parcel post on Saturday turned up today, so I'm guessing the general backlog is being cleared.

I've also had 2 parcels from Spain turn up in the last few days...

I'm not so sure the backlog is being cleared, it seems more like they're delivering the new stuff as it comes in and leaving the backlog to rot.

Last in, first out.

On another forum a few post people have said they've been unusually quiet the last 2 days, I'm guessing our post is landfill :strange:

I think you might not be too far off the mark. Last week at work seemed to indicate this: someone had ordered something well before the bad weather and is still waiting for it to arrive. I ordered something on Saturday 4th and it arrived Tuesday 7th.
However I also ordered some stuff last Saturday which hasn't arrived yet. And part of it is for secret santa at work on Friday. Might have to make a dash to town Friday lunch to get something else if it doesn't turn up. Perhaps they are getting the backlog sorted now... Shame the weather is going to be back!

I guess if they have been piling up the post ready to deliver when the weather lets up the oldest stuff is going to be at the bottom of the pile underneath the newer stuff... (this shows how deep my knowledge of the postal system goes! :S)

I sent out 3 parcels on tuesday, one has arrived but the other two as yet (as far as im aware havent). Im also waiting on 3 parcels i brought, all daughter xmas pressies, they better arrive else i go into sorting office myself and find them lol.

I think its disgusting, Royal mail should be ashamed of themselves.

Hopefully they will all get sacked and i will apply for job there lol...................bet i could get the backlog organised with one hand behind my back.
Has anyone noticed how a lot of companies nowadays seem to employ numpties? (I mean huge corporations lol....thought id better clarify that one :)
