Can i just break that down into two parts? The way this is being done is quite alarming and Serco are there again!
... They 'suspect'? What they are 'hearing'? 'WAY' higher? How high is that?I suspect that is a lot higher, based on what I’m hearing, based on what I’m seeing… it is WAY higher than that...
... does he? Do you? Does anyone else?Lord knows how much that costs...
... that is, literally, why they are where they are, what kind of question is that?Have they got any claims that are being processed, really?
Pertinent one this one, because it actually touches on the ^thread topic - this isn't about 'losing' student accommodation at all, it is about repurposing it. And i'm just going to say etc etc because that seems to be a cheap way of saying i have nothing of value extra to say without saying that, yet seeming like there is perhaps something extra i might have said.We are going to be losing our care homes, student accommodation … etc etc
So that's Snow White, the seven little guys and you????It’s all f###ed up and nine of us really know the true picture,....
Forced? Here's 12.000 of them, forced to be in Britain just to apply and sat on their arses for the best part of a year at the very least, who don't even get interviewed. Just a questionnaire! But how else could we have got the gammon so wound up and distracted, much better we pay serco a fortune to put them in shitty bedsits.
Asylum claims for 12,000 to be considered without face-to-face interview
The Home Office is to scrap face-to-face interviews for asylum seekers from five countries.www.bbc.co.uk
Yes, you can't claim asylum til you're on British soil so literarally must come and stay in a hotel if they want to apply. There were a few more relevant words after the ones you highlighted, they were between those and the full stop.Forced?
Syrian: I'd like to claim asylum please!
Gov: No problem, please report to a UK office.
Syrian: OK, can I book a plane to the UK?
Gov: Nope! Sorry, there's no legal way for you to come here, lol.
Syrian: OK, so I'll come illegally, paying thousands to criminals. Now what?
Gov: Well, in that case we'll put you in a hotel for 18 months and ban you from supporting yourself, even though we know 3/4 of applications are accepted on first look.
It's a truly wonderful system.
I originally laughed at that, but it is by design so...It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
Effectively SERCO just dumps them in hotels or other accommodation and leaves them. No help learning or improving their English, no explanation of British customs & ways of life, not allowed to work in any way - they have nothing to do but hang around in groups. In Penkridge some people are trying to help those dumped in the Hatherton.
Proud to be woke.
This is very true, but does make their charges rather extortionate considering what is providedIf Serco are only contracted to provide accommodation, none of the other things you mention are their responsibility.
You could try going direct from Syria to UK territory in Cyprus, but that doesn't work, either...Syrian: I'd like to claim asylum please!

My opinion of SERCO has been at sub basement level for years. Having briefly had to work alongside them on a project in a previous life, opens your eyes to what utter charlatans they are. This is very true, but does make their charges rather extortionate considering what is provided
My opinion of serco is similar, however...My opinion of SERCO has been at sub basement level for years. Having briefly had to work alongside them on a project in a previous life, opens your eyes to what utter charlatans they are.
Never knowingly undercharge, is the company motto.
Edited cos I misread you.My opinion of serco is similar, however...
If someone provides the service you asked for at the price you agreed to you then who is at fault when you realise its not what you actually wanted?
Yup, they're basically double glazing salesmen just on a bigger scale, exploiting the stupidity/gullibility/lack of empathy of the government. Asylum seekers costing a lot is in both of their interests.Edited cos I misread you.
Fair point. The government didn't pay for anything else because they simply don't care about these people in any way shape or form.
They aren't physically forced though are they. They have made the choice to come to the UK, instead of stopping in one of the many countries they have passed through.Yes, you can't claim asylum til you're on British soil so literarally must come and stay in a hotel if they want to apply.
