I could go on, but this isn't the chat place for it, would need a different post. But I used Terry towelling nappies for all 4 of mine, and disposable nappies before they had elasticated legs!
I've still got 4 or 5 terry towels . Bought 36 but changed to the disposables (without the elasticated legs) . Been using the Terrys for doing the windows etc for the past 27 years , bit grey now but do a fantastic job .

In a desperate attempt to return to topic, our (alleged) MP is requesting a judicial review of the enquiry

As long as you are seen to be doing something it doesn't matter what you achieve, I wonder if it will be something that would have to happen after an election?
Well to be honest I'd rather she does something about it whilst the property is in her constituency..... After the next election it won't....

All of the above but the clueless still blame the tenants 100%. Amazing, really, with so much information out there.

Mmm, not Stafford, but Facebook saw fit to show me a thread about this station sign in London, where 'Southall' has been added in Gurmukhi script, as used by the many Punjabi speakers in the locality.

I'm not going to link to it, but you will often hear of a 'tiny racist minority'. It seems to be quite a large minority...

I'm quite pleased that I recently saw these public toilets nearby here - I might go and cover over the pictograms.

'fir' and 'mna', if you want to take a guess without the pictures...

I noticed the Southall station signs as bilingual many years ago but just thought it was common sense. But two months ago ( travelling between Paddington and Bristol ) I noticed that the Punjabi is less conspicuous on the new purple Elizabeth Line signs.

i also noticed Mandarin on a sign at Bicester Village sign railway station five years ago. And of course many bilingual signs in Scotland and Wales.

Theo is out of the woodwork again today.

It seems like, rather than just decide not to make an abohtant waste of public money to take the case to judicial review, Theo instead spouted on Politics Midlands that ofcourse, its only not going to judicial review becuase the council is now a labour administration 🤷‍♂️

It's not like it's her own party that could have sorted this backlog out years ago or anything.

The saddest thing is that a fair percentage of locals will believe her.

I think most reasonable minded people would listen to concerns if they were -
The town doesn't have health provision for an influx and those that come won't have resource to get to Wolo/Stoke in emergencies.
What do we expect a few hundred 'people' with no local knowledge to do for the whole duration of their stay, with little money?

If they relied on such factual reasoning rather than -
We don't want rapists near our kids
Why should they come here if we have to pay for them?
What right do they have and why are they all men?

We might actually get somewhere rather than an increasing boiling pot of hate and an even more divided society! This episode has uncovered the blatant racism, lack of understanding and humanity as well as empathy, in our own society.
Then again, I don't know what else to expect if 50,000 march to save our hospital, then vote for those selling it off! What a bunch o' bawbags!

But they can't use most of the legit concerns because they also apply to the thousands of commuters buying all the new houses we're building whilst downgrading all the public services

Someone very close to me trotted out the trope of the safety of kids, she said that there could be a child rapist in the number, I said there could be a child rapist in this street, then we got into a discussion and sadly she voiced the same points as @gilbert grape has mentioned in their post. Its alarming.
