We need to start thinking about the drop! It is going to take an escape of the Leicester of a couple of years ago, proportions! That kind of escape currently its not looking likely! We have some very tough games, amongst some decidedly winnable ones. Forgive the old adage, '
the fat lady may not have started singing yet, but she is certainly warming up her tonsils!'
It's not easy, but let us try to look to the positives! Incredible, long suffering fans. They saw the success of the wonderful 'Shed End' and 'Fans Bar' projects,. Never ones to rest on their laurels, they have now embarked on the new project above. The work of key individuals has had a large part to play in the initiation of these projects, and what a credit they are to the club, but their inspiration has lead many fans to get involved, and not insignificant funds to keep rolling in. Much of this is lead by the tales; and for us older ones, the memories of what the club has achieved! ;
The good old days', of FA Trophy, FA Cup, and Northern Premier League success.
Football has changed, and money is its King! Some none league teams have become the play things of extremely wealthy owners! Some when they have had their fun, have turned their backs, and there are plenty of tales of clubs going under. Rangers have attempted to make progress by sustainable development, after nearly going under themselves. The club house has changed beyond recognition, and has a wide variety of visiting clubs/people who use it. This type of development, will hopefully benefit the product on the pitch. Let us hope so! Slow steady development will always be at the victim of a bad season, but in Rangers case, that is nearly a decade, and just when we think we have seen the end of the bad times a bad season see's us falling back again!
Stafford fans are made of tough stuff, us older ones have been here before, and lived to tell the tale! It must be galling for the younger fans to have the
'Old Gits' bleating on about the
The good old days'. With a. rapidly growing Borough population and the current chairman and boards emphasis on sustainable, steady development, the good times may be on the horizon, As a Boro' follower for over 50 years I.m not holding my breath!
