Wondered how many popes have we been though since the Beaconside and associated roundabout works started? Work progress seems to have transitioned from glacial to inter-generational.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq6y41ll148o - we're only two years behind Essex. Maybe we should be thinking about proposing an English Heritage "Beaconside Misery" blue plaque to commemorate the outstanding efforts of our Highways Department over the last 8 yearsThe 'temporary' lights at Parkside arrived in July 2017...
There are places on this planet where the tectonic plate movements are faster.
There is an A-road in Wales that has had roadworks continuously since 2002, scheduled to end around now.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq6y41ll148o - we're only two years behind Essex. I 'discussed' them with Highways and Tarmac (or however it is) in the early days and was, essentially, told to piss off, as it was none of my business. When I submitted a FOI request on those lights, I was met with a terse response.
Just do it.Thinking of emigrating. Seriously.
Welcome to Beaconside Roadworks world mateNewport Road works start 6th May for 6 weeks - South Thames Water - will cause absolute chaos with lane closures, whilst one bloke sits in a digger and seven others are on their smartphones, with no council oversight or control, no weekend working or working after 4pm, whilst you sit in your car and fume.
Forget re-surfacing, filling the potholes and re-making the sunken manholes - not enough brown envelopes have hit silk-lined pockets yet.
Write to your (Tory) councillor and ask why their Highways department are not held to account.
Then ask Reform how they are going to fix the Stafford Gridlock, presumably by sending them all back where they came from?
Thinking of emigrating. Seriously.
You don't get crowds like that these daysView attachment 16674Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse………….
Police have a three lane stop on M6 North about 200 mtrs North of the Doxey bridge. Anyone heading North on M6 would be well advised to get to J14.
Knock on effects already apparent in town.
As I'm out of the area until 5th, could someone give more information on the Newport Road roadworks? Whereabouts do they start etc.
M6 Traffic coming off at J13, solid up Wolverhampton Road, trying to get to J14 which is also shut due to Police 3 lane closure. And of course Stone Road North is shut for the Guiness World record attempt at roadworks longevity. You couldn't make it up.Cowin Eck!
Yes, but then it'd all be finished and back to normal the next day.You don't get crowds like that these days![]()
