Dredging just moves the flood onto someone else.

I took the precaution of recording the impressive Lidl poplar before it succumbed to 'progress'.

But then someone else dredges, then someone else further downstream dredges and so on until there's no more floods.
Maybe I should suggest that to our MP. Perhaps not.

Not Stafford related, but no doubt will effect some locals.

An emergency 21 day closure noticed was issued from this morning (03rd) closing the A34 northbound from Darlaston roundabout to Chase Lane (junction prior to the road to Barlaston) because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to flooding (and I assume debris coming off the hill next to the road).

The same type of notice was also issued yesterday for Sandon Road (Astonfield Road to Victoria Terrace).

If you are travelling slightly further afield, A5 is impassable at the Staffs & Worcs aqueduct.

And detouring through Church Eaton can get you stuck. I met a man whose BMW SUV (still not really made for this weather) had been stuck for 5 hours yesterday.

Haughton lane is virtually clear today.Quite a few new potholes appeared under the water. Was a bit hairy Tuesday evening, that’s got to be the worst I’ve ener seen it.
Gnosall lane has been blocked for a couple days with water & abandoned cars. Apparently still the same earlier this pm.

Yes, it's fine, but you can't get south (where the BMW was stuck). I had to go via Stafford to go to Calf Heath last night.

Has anyone travelled from Penkridge to Pottal Pool Roundabout over the past couple of days? Is it passable?

Looks like major roadworks start on beaconside end of January for 15 months. We shall see

Enjoying a drop of red.

It's only for 15 months, on a very quiet stretch of road, so I doubt anyone will notice any disruption at all.

It's converting Beaconside in a dual carriageway to Marston Lane. Completely reconfiguring the layout for Redhill roundabout including adding traffic lights (and crossings on Stone Road and Beaconside).

AND 3 SETS OF TRAFFIC LIGHTS on Beaconside after the roundabout crossing. One set for Andrus Way (which currently isn't connected to Beaconside) and Parkside Avenue. The next set for Newbold Drive and last set for the second Parkside Avenue junction. So there is a chance you could be stopped at four sets of lights off Redhill Roundabout before getting to Marston Lane.

Why does Marston Grange need three traffic light junctions? Especially two on the same road 340 metres apart.

Absolutely crazy!!!! 🤬

I get the impression there's an aversion to roundabouts in Stafford due to all the wide loads that need to be transported from Alstom. They would need to be very large roundabouts, often with a centre bypass lane.

More like roundabouts without traffic lights.
