Truthfully, I want to try it but the menu and opening hours really aren't to my taste
very true however we were customers when it was a café/breakfast venue and now its shifted its focus that doesn't fit in as much with what we do.
It appears that the owner wants to do his own thing.
He's obviously not in the least concerned about making a profit but is more interested in creating food that he personally likes, for a niche market, at a time that suits him.. not the customer. (His prerogative of course).
Personally though, I feel like he's missing a trick here...Someone with a good business brain, having that building, in that location could be making a good living and a very successful business.
He could be doing a roaring trade with pre theatre dinners, after theatre snacks etc.
Selling food that people actually want to eat, instead of the totally uninspiring menu that is currently on offer.
By catering to the majority, at a time that suits the majority is why some places succeed and others don't.
