Reaching Haughton on a canal boat would be very slowly, unless it was on a low loader.

Overnighting in the Oak before heading to Wildwood to join the northern line apparently

Looking good for his age

Saw this on BBC news last night. As soon as I heard “high streets shops as front for crime” I thought of the number of barbers & eastern eeuropean mini markets that have sprung up in town recently. Turns out it’s those shops that are the targets.

2 of the vape shops north end never have any one in them. I assume the one next to 'munch and slurp' was legit as it has closed.

This week's haircut was at Stafford Town Barbers on Market Street. Obviously no parking so I'm parked up at Aldi and walked over.

It's a Bank Holiday Monday so town itself was quite quiet and the barbers was extremely quiet, two barbers and zero people in there apart from me. So straight on to the chair and in all honesty it was fantastic, really good experience. Did my hair how I wanted, did my eyebrows, waxed my nose, and flamed my ears. I am quite a hairy man it seems. They did offer a shave, I did not take advantage of this as I was a bit pushed for time.

All in all they were friendly, they were polite and I will return at some point as they were excellent. The whole thing cost £10, which is fantastic particularly when up against all the competition that are similar price and were well worth the money. Potentially the best so far.

Stafford's best barber on bridge Street. That's the name of the barbers but also lofty words. They can never be shit, they can never be less than best or it would be a case of turning up at their door and pointing to your bonce and saying well????

Anyway that's where I found myself for this new haircut and immediately I was whisked into a seat explained what I wanted the usual as close to the bone as possible but I also asked if I could have a shave. The shave and the haircut would be exceptional, I seem to be saying this a lot but this is the *best* barber. Which is fortunate considering the name. In addition to doing the hair how I wanted and a close shave they did the usual eyebrows, waxed my nose and minimum of pleasantries, which I like.

The haircut is a rather pricey 12 pounds and the shave was a very reasonable not 9 pounds fifty, I was sat down for around half an hour and I am seriously considering knocking this challenge on the head and just using them as my barber. Cash only from what I could tell.

Obviously there isn't parking because it's on bridge Street but there is parking located nearby, I was parked on Aldi so that was quite handy. Yes so Stafford best barber really were very very good.

Could someone work out exactly how many barber shops Stafford has - we may well be over capacity

Stafford Population
136000
Of Which are male
68000
50% of which visit barber regularly
34000
Say once a month - divide by 12
2833
Divided by 30 working days/month inc Sundays
Daily Stafford haircut requirement
94
Barber shop has, say 4 chairs
And each does 10 cuts a day
Daily Haircut capacity per barber shop
40
Number of Stafford barbers shops required
2.36

I went to Golden Cuts on Mill Street. 2 barbers, and impatient as I was I waited 10 minutes and returned to Stafford Best Barbers. Not even close to being as good as the last time I visited. That's my fault for going against my task. That said 2.36 barber shops for a town this size. Can't see that working.

So are you saying the 34,000 who go regularly only go once a year (hence 2,833 a month)?
Or should that be 34,000 a month?

It would generally hit critical mass when there’s too many that none can make enough money, rather than based on overall market demand.

But aren't some of them alleged to be about laundering money rather than cutting hair ?

New haircut day today. This time I'm at Ali K barbers which is on the corner of Friars Road I think it is and Newport Road just on the corner by the cinema. Park just around the corner on Friars Road or is that street? you know the one, and made a dash in the rain to the barbers, when I got in no one was waiting so I was straight into a chair and to be honest after the glitch of last time and go into a repeat barbers and being quite disappointed in the result this time they were excellent they were really good, chatty but not overly chatty. They did my usual haircut they offered a shave which I took them up on as well as a head massage, they were utterly fantastic. The only thing stopping me going back to them is the cost, now a fella next to me he had a similar haircut and I think I heard them say it was 17 pounds which is excessive for my shave and haircut it was 30 pounds which okay maybe with tip I would be getting closer to that normally but £30 without tip to me that's excessive I would not be able to pay that for a haircut every three weeks. so Ali K barbers excellent, really good, very happy with the haircut very happy with the service just a little bit too expensive for me so on that note onto the next one.
