Announcement The Changening 2021

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
I think the key thing is not to cross the threads. As an example many years ago I was arguing with Lunar Scorpion on one thread while helping her on another, as long as the threads stay on topic I see no reason to ignore a person.
I've no problem with people using the ignore button if that's what they want to do. It's when using the ignore button has an effect on what the other person sees that I have misgivings.

And yes, the cross threads thing is a good point.

Yes, cross threading is a bad idea .... especially with one of these b@stards.:teef:

What's the point of taking some sort of preemptive action in ignoring someone on a forum open to the input of everyone?

Surely you could just ignore them in real time?

Maybe. But if we get to a situation where we are actively excluding people on here from certain things because we don't like them then I'll certainly opt out of the forum, like I do with other social media.

It's been said many many times before by others but this place is a bit like a local pub. You get on with most people, avoid some and tolerate others but overall we all rub along nicely together without unnecessary rules and nastiness. Only very rarely does the landlord need to come along and bar somebody and it's a better place for that.
I think that's a very good analogy.

Using an ignore/block function is usually more about preventing the other person from having access to you than you access to them. Without going into detail I have been in situations before where using it has been necessary, albeit as a last resort.

Honestly, I don't really agree with the majority view here on a block function (I have experience of being admin/mod on forums and that has usually been an important feature for various reasons) but I'm not going to push it if people disagree. No complaints here!

Fair enough but it is a standard feature on most forums and social media platforms, I don't know that the request itself is that contentious.
Forum is already plural

As is Stadium, and Ultimatum and Agenda

And lentil, oat ( you don’t say wheats do you )

Staff and Council are also plural

So is data

Trivium indeed

@Admin, can we get a fix for pasting images pretty please? Attaching them as a file works just fine but the same image pasted into a post will throw up an error about it being too big even if it’s a pretty small PNG
