Funny you should say that, it had been browned on the top. Something I've not noticed on pub CC before.

We went to the Crown on Friday night. Fish and Chips and mushy peas fantastic! They've painted the lounge and got rid of those awful plates on the walls. Service very good - food great. Starting a Saturday menu from 20th Feb, and then doing meals in the week in the late spring

Friday and Saturday menus now put back to end of March due to staff holidays. They don't want to start doing food and then almost immediately stop again.

Lol, they were big but not that big! Battery died, major problem with these fancy new phones is they can't last 2 days without a charge.

Hmm your hero sounds duff mate, three screens, two day battery...

Providing i turn everything off i'm not using when out (wifi/bluetooth/gps based applications) I can get 3 - 4 days from it.

Which network are you on?

Ain't a hero mate, its a milestone. The 3 screens is normal but the battery sucks. Mind you I do leave wireless/bluetooth on.

We were in there about then too, one of our party had lasagne and although thought it was very good she failed to finish it as there was so much. 16oz rump with new potatoes was superb, tasty and tender.
Was in there yesterday afto about 3.30 ish trying to decide whether to have sunday dinner or not but thinking we probably weren't really hungry enough. Matt, the gaffer overheard and offered to do a couple of pork and stuffing baps if we liked. Two well loaded small french sticks with sides of roast potatoes and crackling later we were happy bunnies and only £4.00 lighter in the pocket.

They do work very hard at building the business and are receptive to new ideas, currently selling basic food as well, milk, bread, eggs, cheese. Not to mention evening papers and a range of pickles!
Guest ale this week is, I believe, Reverend James.

We have been again since they have done the full menu. There were 4 of us, one had the lasagne and it looked great and about 4 inches high and very home made looking, one had a pie (beef and ale ?? not sure)- delicious and again huge portions, and two of us had the fish and chips. Home made chips are to die for. However, my only gripe is that when they were doing the fish n chip nights on a Friday they were £6.99, now on full menu for exactly the same thing it is £9.99 which I think is expensive and not worth £3 for the same meal .......

If you want Fish & Chips in a pub, try the Barley Mow Milford on a Friday, Home battered £4.50.
