it always makes me larf - having lived and worked away

The Stafford dining experience consists of this :

Get drunk and buy the cheapest thing on the menu

Nobody ever worries if they have spent 20 quid on drink but once a meal hits double figures we baulk at spending the money on high qulaity produce and cooking

I guess its a cultural thang

I used to be like that, but now prize the meal above the night out. Maybe it just means you're old when you appreciate the experiences rather than hazy recollection of a drunken blur.

Had a conversation along very similar lines with a couple of Stafford market traders the other night.

[Nobody ever worries if they have spent 20 quid on drink but once a meal hits double figures we baulk at spending the money on high qulaity produce and cooking]

Which is probably why there are few up market restaurants in Stafford.

Went in for an early doors pint but noted the 8.30 start and decided not to stay. I'm seldom in there later than 8.00 on a week day.

As is usual for most music events at The Crown, poorly supported. It annoys me that their is an expectation that Village have to be supported, but that support is not recipricated

It's a pity that they can't arrange something for a Friday or Saturday night as not everyone wants to be out on a 'school night' but obviously the lucrative dining trade has to take priority. It was nice to see the beer festival so well attended though.

Aaaaah, so that's why the car park was empty when I went up about 7.00. Didn't fancy an empty pub so turned around and had a quickie in The Sun.

Indulged in some excellent Slaters Queen Bee last night, next up Ringwood Boondoggle which has to be one of my favourites.

Have to agree the queen bee has been spot on. Unlikely to be able to sample the Boondoggle as away straight from work this afto until Monday. Enjoy.
