We ate at The Island last night and I have to say we were extremely impressed.
The decor is lovely as is the layout with lots of little nooks and crannies and private tables if that is what you want.
The food was amazing, up there with Narvarna and Mela lounge, if not slightly better.
The service was top notch, Jak is lovely and showed us around and we had a really good chat with him.
We had poppadum with pickle tray starter, a main each, rice and a naan to share and it only came to £17 with their opening discount offer which is amazing. Even when the offer ends though the prices are really good with all the mains being around about £7 and no inflated prices for king prawns which I was extremely happy about!
We will definitely be going back and think we may have found our new favourite place for curry :)

We went on Saturday. Love the interior, nice that they have kept a lot of the booth style areas. Also nice that they kept the bar despite not selling any alcohol themselves, some people would have ripped that out and got more tables in.

I'll be honest I think we chose a bad time to go. There was a woman complaining that she hadn't had her meal when her friends had finished, and another couple who waited 25 minutes for their bill (but still said they'd be back!). No problems on the service front for us, took a while to order but after that all was fine. The main was actually ready by the time we'd finished our starters pretty much. Our meal was alright, nothing to complain about but the flavours hadn't quite knitted together, I suspect the chef was rushing because of the other complaints plus they were very busy. The meat was well cooked (I had duck, it was tender) it was just the sauce seemed it needed a touch longer. In all honesty I don't want to rate them on this experience so will be going back once they have settled in a bit and everyone is more used to working with each other, I'm putting it down to teething troubles. As you know I love a good curry so the fact that I'm returning means I see potential, I just feel I lucked out this time.

Tried yesterday and extremely impressed - it's a good fit-out inside, and unlicensed - so bring your own booze.

The first thing to mention are the prices - under £7 for most main dishes for a sit-down is very competitive - and a few starters under £4 - these are take-away prices so excellent value. There is an offer running for Friday this week for 25% off I think - which makes it a very cheap night out.

In terms of food quality, I can only rate against Narvana and Panache - and on last night's food it's definitely on a par with Panache, and for some dishes, maybe beats Narvana - and that is saying something as we really rate Narvana. We had the Fish Tikka - fantastic melt-in-the mouth delicate flavours and Nargis kebab - equally good. For mains the Sag Puneer was superb, as was the Korahi - but the best for us was the vegetable Dhansak - sweet and amazing flavour. So, in our book a good 9-9.5 out of 10 - the dishes were fresh and really tasty. Wait times for food starters maybe slightly longer, but worth the extra wait in quality. The chef here seems really good.

The staff are very attentive and there seems a real desire to impress. They told us some people were mentioning the old Malt & Hops (before our time) and actual spots where they used to meet. And it seems they do also know the ex-Panache owners.

All in all a highly impressive first visit. We won't desert Narvana just yet, but they have serious competition now on price and value. We've yet to try Ras Leela, the new one by the church, so will reserve final judgement on our favourite, but Stafford curry lovers now have a huge choice.

Could Stafford be forming a new Mecca for curry afficionados - we could list 12 sit-down Indian restaurants in Stafford - should we get a Stafford Curry Triangle destination created to rival Birmingham's Balti Triangle ? How do we get a brown sign ?

Have we missed any ? - Island, Narvana, Curry Kuteer, Malabar/Mela, Dilshad, Ras Leela, Stafford Balti, Nishads, Spice Island, Simply Bilash, Abduls, Ashiana,

Thank you sooo much For your lovely feedback, to give us 9-9.5 out of 10 in our first week is a great start for us. We all look foward to see you and your partner again.

Firstly, i would like to thank you for your feedback, I am glad that you have enjoyed your meal.
Friday & Saturday for us was extremely busy for our first week of opening, Chef was under alot of pressure as first impressions count alot, and all food prepared had to be double checked before leaving the kitchen.
We all had a staff meeting Saturday night, and are working on ways to improve our service to be even better and this cannot be done without improving our teamworking skills, we have employed extra staff at the back to help our chef and also the front.Hopefuly all goes well for us, thank you for all your support & feeling happy that you do see potential.

Next time you come please ask for Shaz,Jak or Foz, we look forward to seeing you soon.

Went last night. Very good indeed. A waiter informed me that all there currys are cooked using olive oil not ghee which is a brave move in my opinion. I know ghee is bad on the waistline but does give a nice depth of flavour. Will definitely be going again. As previously mentioned the amount of curry houses in stafford is staggering and I do feel for the ones in the less prominent positions like simply bilash and ashiana with so much competition.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback.

WOW, WHAT A LOVELY REVIEW!! I will show this to Jak tonight.

Also alot of customers have mentioned that our prices are low for the quality of food, we have had our meeting and we feel that our prices are reasonable so will remain the same, we do not want to be overpriced. Also different special offers will be going up on here and on facebook monthly so look out for them.

Thank you again :):):):):D:D:D:D

I'd like to add my $0.02 about The Island Fusion Restaurant...
Now those whom have met me can tell that I really like my food :lolsmash:
Since the Panache in Stafford closed down, it's been very hard for me to find anywhere which served that quality of food.
After visiting The Island yesterday, I can safely say that I no longer have to drive to Sutton Coldfield for my fix of top quality Indian food!

The welcome was extremely friendly - we were offered complimentary red wine (I was driving so declined, but my mate accepted).
We sat down in the corner and the atmosphere is cosy, yet spacious.
The menu is lovely, the food was epic.

Just go there ffs. If you're reading this, you're already interested.

I'm not a food critic - I just love really nice food, which is precisely what this is.

Just a note about the pricing: I'd have easily paid twice that amount. £6.95 for a curry which tastes THAT good - No where else even comes close!

TBH it's making me hungry thinking about it!

See you there!!!!!!!:teef::teef::teef::teef::teef:

Thank you soo much for this feedback, i am glad that you enjoyed your first meal at the Island, we look forward to serving you again and again. Any problems please just ask for Shaz or Jak.
