jesus wept, do you go through all of this every time you do your shopping?? lolDoctor said:
exactly! this is not a daunting task. shopping for food is not an anxed riddled quagmire of choice. it's all under one roof - we're not hunting it or growing it (only in utopia!). people just think about it a little, then we'll find that it gently snowballs and before we know we'll comfortably be making these decisions, incorperating it into a routine. it will all make a difference as our buying choices will start to affect how our food is produced.Doctor said:the main thing is that once you start thinging about it you'll start to make a difference.
And the weather is fabulous!jchiltz said:go on holiday in this country - there's a shed load to do!
lol i was going to post a similar retort, but i thought i've been too negative in this thread already and didn't want to get a reputation for being a belligerent bar stewardDoctor said:And the weather is fabulous!jchiltz said:go on holiday in this country - there's a shed load to do!
yeah well, sacrifices have to be made.Doctor said:And the weather is fabulous!jchiltz said:go on holiday in this country - there's a shed load to do!
unless it involves 40° heat and eating steaks the size of a small island, it ain't a holiday in my opinionjchiltz said:yeah well, sacrifices have to be made.
if they could figure out how to cook chips, yesjchiltz said:so if the castle tavern steak house had a sauna you'd never laeve stafford?!
er, what? BBC, you're one of the longest standing members here (if not the longest) - why are you saying "hello" like you're a newbie?BBC said:Oh and Hello Forum
i take it you missed the bit about being a veggie? i can't see that going down well with you lol..BBC said:Yeah wot Mystikal said.
as ive said before and the point that seems to be recurrent is that it really doesnt take much to make a difference. we all dont have to suddenly start wearing hemp, but gradually change our lifestyles, becoming more conscience of the resources being used.Monquey said:of total sense and logic
its been a while hasn't it? (i know i cant talk - previously neglected this house for a year!) twas good seeing you at the weekend!BBC said:Oh and Hello Forum
even though i'm a quarrelsome queynt when it comes to green issues, even i manage to recycle like a mother lover.. a while ago, we managed to fill our green bin to the brim the morning after it was emptied (long story), which meant we couldn't empty any of the bins in our house for 2 weeks.. we stepped up our recycling game, and i was surprised at how easy it was to get by using only the various recycling options..Monquey said:Re-use everything you can, recycle everything you can't. Everything. It's not hard - most councils have pretty comprehensive collections, I know Stafford does - every scrap of paper, every bit of glass, put in the right container. Takes seconds.
as i'm sure you know, i am exactly the kind of "lazy meat sack" that monquey is berating, and proud of it.. in fact, half the problem is that people like me are belligerent and revel in their "right wing right to drive a 4x4 round the corner" (i.e. the "jeremy clarkson generation," if you will), so even though we know we are all headed for certain doom we steadfastly refuse to change..jchiltz said:why recycle something when it doesnt even need to be used in the first place? of course, recycle wherever possible but why use it / buy it to start off with? to take monquey's suggestion further - should there be a need for new plastic bags to be made any more?
and therein lies the problem, imo.. people who are interested in sustainability will already be practising what they are preaching.. people who aren't won't even read about it, let alone pay any attention..jchiltz said:alas it seems that the only people who are contributing to this thread are the people who already know the score
ok then if the masses are as fickle as we know they are, they should be into the most recent fashionable things. aren't green issues the talk of the town at the moment? strike now, while its in fashion and perhaps distill some sense of responsibility into the unsustainable mind set.dirtybobby said:sustainability == green == environment == hippies..
