We bought his 6th form prom shirt, jacket and trousers from Asda, as that was all I could afford at the time. But felt for son when the rest of the group turned up in expensive looking suits. He still wore that suit for a few years after to any events, and it's still in our wardrobe....Asda also sell suits. Not brilliant, but cheaper than spending a fortune and then having it shoved to the back of the wardrobe till the next time. And then there's no guarantee that it will fit.
The suit - or your favourite shop assistant? The one in Apacella felt and looked a quality one
No wonder hubby reckoned he didn't think it was any goodThe suit - or your favourite shop assistant?
I agree totally. I too buy a lot of suits. I always have mine hand made to measure in London, but if you can’t afford that then the options in Stafford now are limited to Black’s, or Greenwood ‘s if they have anything left before they close. (Black’s is vastly superior to Greemeoods, which are adequate but no better). There is nowhere else I would consider, even in an emergency.I would recommend greenwoods. Very good suits ar reasonable prices. I buy a lot of suits. You get what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend Matalan or Primark. Pay a little more and get alot better.
you are lookIng at starting around £2-3000. He obviously won’t wear the same suit to the funeral as to his graduation, and then he’ll need a few more when he starts work.

Were you in court that day?I haven't worn a suit for nearly 30 years.
I've never had a suit*.I haven't worn a suit for nearly 30 years.

No, I didn't bother to wear a suit for those occasions...Were you in court that day?
I am struggling to comprehend how a grown man can function for 30 years without wearing a suit.I haven't worn a suit for nearly 30 years.

As Markpa rightly says, you get what you pay for. Nothing looks worse, or more obvious, than a cheap suit. As a guide, for a made to measure suit you are lookIng at starting around £2-3000, or if you skimp on the fabric quality it might be slightly less I imagine. Some tailors charge double that and, as with most things, the more you pay the better the quality.
The stuff in Primark, T K Max and the like will only be fit for mopping the floor, as would be any suit you bought from a supermarket. The days of Burton’s selling anything of quality are long gone, and Next is just full of overpriced tat that is no better than Primark. If you are absolutely desperate you could probably make do with one of the top of the range from M&S in an emergency, but it would be wear-once option, they lose their shape the minute you sit down in them, and the fabric and stitching quality is extremely poor. I have never heard of Acapela, but a shop that only has one black suit, take it or leave it, is not even worth considering.
Looks like you will just have to make do with whatever you can get now for Wednesday, but for the graduation you’ve got a bit more time to prepare. He obviously won’t wear the same suit to the funeral as to his graduation, and then he’ll need a few more when he starts work.
