I agree. It's not like there's not space for a slip road etc, its the fact they have taken them away! Making it worst. Why bother? Spending end of year pennies? I can think of much more important road matters to amend with our money, like the lights at the Hough retail park which cause traffic all the way up Radford Bank at peak times!staff4ord said:The issue with the junction compared to parkside is they have the space to build a slip road which they did years ago. What now makes the old design worse than the decision ( half baked ) to change it now. Parkside works because it was designed that way. Wildwood worked because it was designed that way. So why oh why does the council think sticking some paint down in an attempt to change some thing. If it ain't broke don't F**k with it.

Please - no googling "scat" for gods sake.wizzard said:henry scat? who's he?

Yep, you should have had a reply and it is very poor that you haven't had one.John said:Obviously these people don't think that we who PAY THEIR WAGES deserve the common decency of a reply.
Yep, details at http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/yourcouncil/dataprotectionandfreedomofinformation/foicomplaints/home.aspxAnyone know how I could go about making a complaint about the lack of reply. Is there an ombudsman or something?
Not really, if he sent the request in as stated then there's no excuse for a reply not having being sent.db said:cue henry scat blaming it on the highways agency/the british public/the rotational axis of the moon/etc.
Strangely enough, I regularly do just that when paying in at my bank. I like to think that they take it as a mark of my concern that they should not be left destitute at the end of the week.henryscat said:Do you also go into shops telling the staff you "pay their wages"?
Must of it in the hospital management shuffling bits of paper around and counting beans. We all know how wonderful Mid Staffs are, so great it's a nationally recognised benchmark on how not to run a hospital.henryscat said:In Stafford over 40% of employment is in the public sector, without which the town's economy would be utterly buggered.
The difference is that I have no choice other than to pay my council taxes to help fund our grossly over-inflated and interfering local government. As I have no choice then I think they should have no choice in complying with regulations when it comes to answering a FOI request. But of course that's not the way the public sector operates is it, as they seem to work in a world detached from reality. Or at least many of their management do.henryscat said:Before spouting Daily Mail type crap, think about it. You don't pay anybody's wages unless they work for you directly. People who work in the public sector are tax payers just as much as the next person. The public sector keeps a significant part of the private sector in work as well. In Stafford over 40% of employment is in the public sector, without which the town's economy would be utterly buggered. Do you also go into shops telling the staff you "pay their wages"?
Actually you do have a choice, its just that not paying might get you into trouble. There isn't a "choice" about answering FoI requests so not quite sure what your point is there as its pretty clear cut.John said:As I have no choice then I think they should have no choice in complying with regulations when it comes to answering a FOI request.

On one hand you say local government is "over-inflated" but then complaining that deflating it is going to impact on frontline services (which it will) - you're contradicting yourself.when those of us in the real world are having to tighten our belts and the council is making staff redundant which will impact on many frontline services.

working in the public sector, as i do, and having previously worked in the private sector for 14 years, i can confirm that this can certainly be true more often than not.. not all the time, or for every employer, obviously - but my experience of the public sector would definitely support this..John said:the public sector ... seem to work in a world detached from reality.
