When asking why this junction is different from any other, Henrys Cat conveniently over looks all of the junctions that it is exactly the same as......

Such as HERE, or to some extend HERE.

There are lots more i'm sure, especially on the Sandon Road but can be bothered to link to more.

The issue with the junction compared to parkside is they have the space to build a slip road which they did years ago. What now makes the old design worse than the decision ( half baked ) to change it now. Parkside works because it was designed that way. Wildwood worked because it was designed that way. So why oh why does the council think sticking some paint down in an attempt to change some thing. If it ain't broke don't F**k with it.
I agree. It's not like there's not space for a slip road etc, its the fact they have taken them away! Making it worst. Why bother? Spending end of year pennies? I can think of much more important road matters to amend with our money, like the lights at the Hough retail park which cause traffic all the way up Radford Bank at peak times!

EDIT: Just seen I'm a Stafford Point down after this mornings first post, I reaaaaaally don't care - but whoever is giving cuffy because of posts re: the topic of this thread obviously doesn't live on Wildwood!

No reply, what a surprise. Obviously these people don't think that we who PAY THEIR WAGES deserve the common decency of a reply.

Anyone know how I could go about making a complaint about the lack of reply. Is there an ombudsman or something?

Try this:

Dear Staffordshire County Council,

I would like to remind you that the FOI Act requires you to reply
promptly to a request for information within 20 days after the
original request. That deadline fell on XXXXXXX.

I would appreciate it if you could respond to my request for xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx within the next five working days.

Thank you,

Yours faithfully,

Next time submit your FOI request through http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/

They give you templates to use, mean the answer is open for everyone to see and remind you when the deadline is up.

Some interesting viewing on there of other FOI requests to Staffs CC and others.

It was the Highways Agency that installed the lights.

They should adopt a new strap line:

Staffordshire Highways / Staffordshire County Council, holding up traffic flow and increasing pollution since 1990
Except motorways and motorway junctions belong to the Highways Agency.

As that junction has worked perfectly well for 30 odd years
It may not have changed in 30 odd years, which isn't necessarily the same as "worked perfectly well".

Yep, you should have had a reply and it is very poor that you haven't had one.

Before spouting Daily Mail type crap, think about it. You don't pay anybody's wages unless they work for you directly. People who work in the public sector are tax payers just as much as the next person. The public sector keeps a significant part of the private sector in work as well. In Stafford over 40% of employment is in the public sector, without which the town's economy would be utterly buggered. Do you also go into shops telling the staff you "pay their wages"?

Not really, if he sent the request in as stated then there's no excuse for a reply not having being sent.

Strangely enough, I regularly do just that when paying in at my bank. I like to think that they take it as a mark of my concern that they should not be left destitute at the end of the week.

Must of it in the hospital management shuffling bits of paper around and counting beans. We all know how wonderful Mid Staffs are, so great it's a nationally recognised benchmark on how not to run a hospital.

The difference is that I have no choice other than to pay my council taxes to help fund our grossly over-inflated and interfering local government. As I have no choice then I think they should have no choice in complying with regulations when it comes to answering a FOI request. But of course that's not the way the public sector operates is it, as they seem to work in a world detached from reality. Or at least many of their management do.

If I don't like the service in a shop then I simply take my custom elsewhere, as is my right.

Before you reply with the inevitable that SCC is not divorced from the real world and that I am spouting more daily mail crap (a paper which, incidentally, I have never read) then I would remind you of the amount of our money that is being spent on the new council building, and of the recent solar panel controversy. Blatant wastes of money at a time when those of us in the real world are having to tighten our belts and the council is making staff redundant which will impact on many frontline services.

Actually you do have a choice, its just that not paying might get you into trouble. There isn't a "choice" about answering FoI requests so not quite sure what your point is there as its pretty clear cut.

On one hand you say local government is "over-inflated" but then complaining that deflating it is going to impact on frontline services (which it will) - you're contradicting yourself.

of course you know what his point is  you're just being facetious, which i know i do all the time, but i do it deliberately and have the decency to admit (some might say revel in :teef: ) it..

if you're genuinely struggling: hyperbole, rhetoric - he is using them..

working in the public sector, as i do, and having previously worked in the private sector for 14 years, i can confirm that this can certainly be true more often than not.. not all the time, or for every employer, obviously - but my experience of the public sector would definitely support this..
