I've lost 1.5 stone since October by simply giving myself a slap and telling myself I can do it. Simply by calorie watching (I'd reduced down to 1200 a day) cutting out any treats or nibbles during the day and becoming more active. ...... since January I've struggled to find the motivation and have slipped a little.
Brilliant @wildwood ... don't slip to far though - I only started eating a normal amount of carbs in November & I've put on just over 10lb :(

Maybe we can all keep each other motivated...

:)

I've been putting off going on the scales.... maybe I should it might prod me back into life..
Do it! DO IT NOW!

Its so easy to lose control.

It was my birthday at the beginning of November, I decided I would eat nice things for the week....cheesy mash, pasta, roast potato, rice, bread, cheese.....

...then I thought 'its not long till Christmas, I don't want to miss out on all these lovely things' - so I kept eating them on a daily basis....

...then the husband was scoffing cake one night after tea....'hmmm I'll have some cheese' I thought. Then there's some crackers, and crisps & maybe some nuts, & how about some ham & pickle with that too?

....then there's the alcohol....I'm usually strictly only-at-the-weekend, but everyone else was having some.....who knew I even liked Cider!?

3months later & I'm trying on dresses that don't want to do up :( I undid all my good work in the summer just for the sake of a platefull of cheesy mash! Grrrr!

@Alee - how are you today? ok?

Awww you're not a failure  it was just too extreme - to be fair I was bloody surprised that you didn't pass out!

I'm not going to weigh myself till Monday (we don't own any scales so I have to find one of those shouty public machines) then I'll of given it a full week - I'll be the one whose disappointed as I doubt I'll of lost anything in the first few weeks...

I'll keep you company on your weight losses :)
I've put on a stone since the middle of november due to being poorly and not being able to go running.
It's amazing how quickly your body turns to fat when you stop regular exercise (I used to run every day for about 20-30 mins).
I started running again on monday and to start with I'm alternating a 15 min run one day with a 45 minute walk to work the next day then I'll gradually up the speed and distance for the runs.
I don't really diet as such, I prefer to think of it as healthy eating for life. I never eat cake, biscuits or crisps anyway as I'm not keen. Bread makes me feel bloated so I keep it to a minimum and everything else is in moderation. I don't believe in cutting anything out, and I find eating little and often suits me best.
So I'm on day three today with a stone to lose. I haven't weighed myself yet as I get a bit obsessed even to the point of weighing before and after a wee haha so I'm trying for a weekly weigh in (I know I won't last that long before I'm tempted to have a sneaky weigh though )

I don't even need to go dress shopping for this wedding, I tried an old dress (when I say old I think I've only ever worn it twice about 6 years ago) and it fits!

I'm only 3lbs away from a 2 stone loss and hoping to do that in a week, then another 7lbs in the following 4 weeks.

For the first 2 weeks I was averaging 1lb per day but it's seriously slowed down since then, I am trying not to get too disappointed with the 1 & 2lb loss per week but I suppose anything however small is still loss, though I do get disheartened with not seeing results immediately.

My weight has always been up and down (mostly up if I'm honest) and I ballooned in my late teens as a result of a bad relationship and a very bad diet then knocked most of it off when I moved out of my ex's house, managed to put a lot back on when I met the hubby and we were eating out a lot, then a pile more with the first born. I was over weight but not massive though in 2010 I had my thyroid removed and went through 12 months of difficult treatment that resulted in a 5 stone weigh gain. I got 2 stone off quickly and kept hold of the additional 3 (another baby didn't help matters) which I then managed to loose about 18 months ago courtesy of a Virgin Active membership. A busy life and lack of motivation saw about half of it back and there it's stayed ever since.

So now I'm on a mission, I'm fed up of hiding from camera's and I'm determined to get to a place where I'm happy with myself, I'm aiming for 5 stone in 2015 and I want to be halfway there by the end of March, I think it's doable and after the initial kick averages at around 1lb a week.

I'm not going to a diet club though loosely following the old red and green slimming world plan and I might invest in a gym membership further down the line.

Good luck to you all, it's certainly not easy xx

It's not just me then, hubby is getting fed up with me going on and on about what I'm cooking. He's trying to be god as well but he's not interested in dieting and is quite happy to scoff bread and chocolate in front of me. I'd find it so much easier if we didn't have that stuff in the house.

Bread, pasta and potatoes are my downfall!

Honestly @Bob I think mine is doing it on purpose .... last night after tea the husband ate....a Rocky bar, a Oykos yogurt, a packet of Animal biscuits, another Oykos yogurt & then a Willy Wonka chocolate bar...he also disappeared into the kitchen twice with smallest daughter & I know they were eating in there also! At one point I got so fed up that I told him he must have worms & should go to the drs!

I'm the same with bread, pasta, potatoes & cheese - I haven't cut them out completely, I just try to swap them for green veg or couscous - tonight everyone's having pasta & meatballs & garlic bread, I'll have meatballs & pasta sauce but I'll swap the pasta & garlic bread for veg :)

Your other half? I find most blokes won't choose a healthy lifestyle but are too lazy to cook for themselves, so adopt healthy eating by default.

As for the ostrich steaks I treat them like burgers, they are about 4oz. They are less than a calorie per gram though, I suspect the bun is worse than the meat.

Ahh - I see, were still having the same meals, only I swap my potatoes bread & pasta for veg - if my husband were left to fend for himself he would live on chips from the chippy!

Interestingly its my husband who has the weight problem (I've spent all of my teenage years & most of my adult life accused of being anorexic) - he was a chubby child & his weight has gone up & down like a yoyo as an adult (because he's a terrible snacker/grazer) but he's also 6ft 2 so can carry it off.. he was reasonably slim when I met him & I've spent the last 13 years fattening him up with my huge home cooked meals. So of all people you would think he would know what its like!
