TUESDAY JUST GONE, 6TH NOVEMBER

On that day in 1917, Russian Bolshevik revolutionaries launched a nearly bloodless coup d’etat against their country’s ineffectual provisional government. The Bolsheviks and their allies occupied government buildings and other strategic locations in the Russian capital Petrograd (now St. Petersburg) and within two days formed a new government headed by Vladimir Lenin. Bolshevik Russia, later named the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), was the world’s first Marxist state.

"Mr Modchips – UK Pirate Faces Jail And £1 Million Fine"

All the usual crap's there. Chucking round sentences like "made in excess of £1 million from flogging dodgy console chips", without bothering to tell us whether it's profit or turnover? Check. Likening him to a drug dealer? Check. Claiming it's all for the good of the industry? Check.

For christ's sake. When are these people going to realise that if I've handed over some money for a piece of hardware, I OWN THat HARDWARE AND THUS I CAN DO WHAT THE F*****G HELL I LIKE WITH IT? Providing I'm prepared to wait til the warranty runs out, obv.

<goes to do some work to calm down a bit> :)

/me has just noticed that this post is timed @9:30, even though it was posted @10:30. Ideas, anyone?

** EDIT ** The bit about times, and a little self-censorship. It now says 'fishing'.

Suffice to say, I wish Baginall's were still open.

Saw that the other day myself, agree that once its yours you should be allowed to do as you wish. How many people purchased the PS1 exactly BECAUSE you could play pirate games, and had no intention of buying many originals?

As for the time, I'm guessing the forum doesn't take into account daylight saving and is on strict GMT. Used to work with ships, and they run on GMT regardless of where in the world they are, so got used to it.

Cheap method of demolition perhaps? Or maybe its the easiest way to get rid of the Japanese Knotweed problem they appear to be having round there?

Ah yes, Japanese Knotweed, I think the term 'pernicious weed' was coined for this stuff!
Himalayan Balsam is so much easier to deal with. I had my fill of both of them when I worked for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust in a voluntary capacity.

I'm not actually sure if it would kill off the knotweed, but possibly worth a try compared to the cost otherwise? Couldn't help thinking it burned impressively well for an 'empty' building, the heat generated may be enough to kill the plant roots in the ground below?

£70m or 100 gallons of av-gas and a bit of friendly arson? You decide! ;)
