And Deuteronomy 13:5 gives 'us' the duty to put to death any false prophet, apparently.

That prophet or dreamer must be put to death for inciting rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. That prophet or dreamer tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.

Other translations may be available.

Who decides who is a false prophet and who isn't?

I do!

I would ban all religious fruitcakes!

I would hope that one day mankind wakes up an realises how massivley retarded it is to believe in a sky wizard of any description and live your whole damn life according to a book written by many contributors in the dark ages. It honestly boggles my mind that religion is so rampant in the year 2015. People killing each other, not eating certain foods not enjoying sex before marriage, women wearing a burkas praying god knows how many times a day and all the nutty stuff that comes with it, all in the hope that some higher being will reward you for living your life by his farkin' rules.
The thing that makes me laugh is when its seen as a badge of honour in things like presidential candidates. Who wants a bloke running the most powerful country in the world that believes in some imaginary cartoon character from a book, they are insane.

Welcome Varius (Latin for 'different, diverse, changeable) it is good to welcome someone such as yourself to the forum, you won't find to many Bible (or Koran) bashers on here but there are plenty on here to defend you and your religion.

I am no lover of Islam or any other religion for that matter but if it keeps you happy that is fine by me as long as it does not affect me in any way, when it does I am not afraid to speak out.

Anyone who believes in an invisible person controlling things is a fruitcake in my opinion but who knows you could be right!

Anyway a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to you and all the other forumites.

I would suspect the reason you don't get any 'bible bashers' as you nicely call them is that people don't wade in and have a go at the Christian religion very often.

So, I assume you've not just celebrated the birth of Christ?

Christmas is only celebrated for the birth of christ by christians. Its now a commercial event and thats pretty much the way i see it. But i do thank the sky wizard and his followers for providing me with a 2 week break from work. For me its a time to eat drink and spend some quality time with the family not give thanks toa fictional character akin to harry potter.

I wish I hadn't, it is a total and utter waste of time and money!

I believe as long as you are not imposing your religion on anyone or hurting anyone then who the hell cares what you believe in? If you think its all a load of gobbledigook then cool its not harming you if someone chooses to pray or worship God.

Quite. However, it's got a familiar pattern, using parts of the holy book that you want to use, and ignoring other parts. You won't be labelled Christian though. Terrorists do similar (I am in no way linking celebrating Christmas with terrorism, just linking the use of the respective bibles) but then you say they are Muslim?

Just for the record, I was raised Christian, go to Church occasionally but don't believe in God. I also work with a lot of Muslims, including my direct report. Whilst I am very ignorant about their religion, it amazes me how they are always willing to answer my questions to lessen my ignorance.

I was raised a christian too. There are a few in my family who id go with as a child and watch them sing and raise their arms aloft feeling the power of christ. I used to wonder what the hell they were doing. They went to a methodist church and believed in each negative human trait being the result of a demon and various other off the wall stuff.

I've worked at various places in Stafford and I've always encouraged my colleagues to ask any questions they have. Im not sure why some people are so scared to offend, like you said it just lessons ignorance so im all for it.

I love talking about it to religious people. I suppose it is those conversations that formed my views now. I once worked with a lovely lady who was a creationist. I just couldnt get my head around the things she believed in. Apparently dinosaur bones were placed in the ground by god to test your faith.

Look creationism up. Out of interest are there various types of muslim faith like in christianity. And what does islam say about when and by whom the earth was created. I heard christianity and islam closley follow each other.

It's is because we have been beaten over the head with a big stick for years being told how evil we are for questioning anything to do with race or religion.
