Chindia - Stafford’s first Chinese Indian – gotta see it to believe it!

Why is the minimum order for delivery £10 for ST16 postcodes and £12 for ST17 postcodes when Chindia must be located close to the boundary between them? It would be better if this was distance based.

Just ordered a takeaway so looking forward to see if it meets up the good comments in previous posts.

The postcode area boundary is between the Grapes and the Sun - so Chindia is a fair way North of that - maybe it's a bit like "South of the river" in London terms..

ST16 boundary - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=st16+area&hl=en&hnear=Stafford+ST16,+United+Kingdom&gl=uk&t=h&z=13

Chindia, my review:

After all of the good reviews above, thought we'd give the place a go but didn't fancy Indian so nervously (with it not being open long) thought we'd test their Chinese.

Firstly the good news - the starters and mains were as good as any we have had in Stafford. Egg fried rice was beautiful, vegetable and chicken&sweetcorn soups were good too, as were sweet & sour chicken (although read below) and veg chow mein...

Now the not so good:

- One thing we noticed when the bill came to a bit more than expected was some of the prices for some dishes seem considerably more than Essence of the Orient and Lotus House... e.g. chicken & sweetcorn soup is £2 50 compared to £1.50 or £1.60 elsewhere.... Most other dishes were more expensive too but only 20p here and there, although I judge Essence of the Orient to be the best and most expensive Chinese in Stafford so to be more than them is surprising.
- To make matters worse, we were overcharged. Our order should have been £20.30 but for some reason we were charged £23 by the bloke delivering... (didn't realise at the time or would have queried it)

- The prawn crackers seemed a bit of a stingy portion and didn't seem like they were cooked right. Also most places give you a free bag too but nothing here...

- I ordered a Sweet and Sour Special (mixed meat), which to be fair wasn't on the menu, but the guy taking the order checked and we were told that was ok, but when it came it was just sweet and sour chicken...
- Also no free starter as listed on menu although I didn't request it to be fair since I was ordering without a menu at the time.

- Finally the portion of chips we ordered were dripping with water when they arrived, probably due to them being put into a plastic bag straight out of the frier and forming condensation...

Hope the can iron out these issues because the food is decent...

Tried it the other night and the food was delicious, but agree with the above post regarding the cost

We tried the Indian which is really nice but no way I will try the Chinese at those prices. Like you say the soup is way over priced compared to everywhere else in stafford.

Had an Indian from there last night ... don't have Indian very often and this was very good.
Probably won't use it for Chinese as there are others which we like!

A very clever concept though as they're guaranteed the custom if you fancy an Indian and your partner fancies a Chinese or vise versa.

After my meal the other night maybe not! The Indian is good but from my experience of the Singapore fried rice I'd rather order from a separate Chinese. Shame really, I wanted it to work, but it just tasted like boiled rice with rubbery prawns and a few other bits thrown in. Edible with a curry but on its own I would have been complaining.

Glad someone's reviewed their Chinese food finally as so far so many of us have only said how nice their Indian food is. Anyone else that has tried the Chinese side of it yet?

I have ordered from Chindia quite regularly since it opened , have only ever had indian tho. My first order was brilliant , I was so impressed. The food was amazing and I loved the fact that they gave u a free side salad.lately ,I hate to say that every time Iv ordered Things have been missing like the chips or rice( but bearing in mind these have been the free sides, I ordered on just eat and you have to list them in the comment box on a seperate page. So easily missed i suppose). I ordered last night and had to wait over 2 hrs for my food. Apparently this was because they had a new delivery driver and he coudnt find us. We were given the meal on the house, which as always tasted great.hopefully the service will improve then I will order everyday :-D. They need to update just eat too coz I never even realised the Chinese kitchen had opened

Sounds like a very poor excuse considering they take a contact number from you when you order... how difficult is it to call you and ask directions...

Anyway at least you got your meal free.

A problem I have with indian takeaways is that inevitably the quality dips, they start freezing dishes or sauces and they assume customers wont notice. They do notice though as the dishes have excessive water. It happens, Ashiana do it, and now it seems that Chindia are doing it. Chindia also appear to be cutting down on the meat in their dishes. The last takeaway we had with them indicated this change and for that reason we continue our search for a great takeaway.

It's always narvana or spice delight for us. I found takeaway food not quite as good as eating in at narvana, but it's still good.

So went back there since my last post, a few times actually. It was a one off the standard is still high.

Unfortunately we ordered a meal a few nights ago and it arrived about 50 minutes later quite literally COLD. I don't know whether it's the drivers fault or what happened.
I'll be letting them know, of course, and will give them the benefit of the doubt on this occassion as the food has otherwise always been nice. I just hope it doesn't happen again because it ruined a pleasant evening for us.

Thought I'd give them another go, ordered korma and rice but only my korma got delivered ,rang up to complain and the guy just said I can have my rice next time I order. Not that I'm goin to be ordering again! Iv given them enough chances now, they've only ever got my order right once!
