Donate blood in Stafford.

Strangely, it was the Americans who used space-monkeys, and they did come back. One was called Ham, as I recall. The Russians preferred dogs, apparently - and they didn't return.

Good Work Forumites, I'm always grateful to those that donate. Can't do it myself as I've had blood transfusion, so skill points to those that have.

Sadly i can longer donate, but i proudly did for 25+yrs. How acute is the shortage (if any)?......

Not acute enough for them to contact me often enough to donate at 16 weekly intervals for my A+ grade fluids. In fact, I went a whole year with just one donation in it when there could have been three.

Strangely, if I was to repatriate to my homeland they wouldn't accept my donations there as I have lived here too long.

Funny that, I missed 2 sessions and they never sent a form for the next one at rangers, and my son never got a reminder for it either.

I got the impression that you can't really rely on them to contact you nowadays, although it did work well enough up to about eighteen months ago. I pointed out the omission, but they didn't seem very interested. Strange, as there was a news story on the BBC last week bemoaning the lack of donors. I will make a note of when my 16 weeks is up and check the next session.

I think the reason they havnt contacted you is the fact they spend so much time reminding me. In the 2 weeks before my 16 weeks is due i get a reminder letter with the health questionaire attched, the week after i get another reminder and then a few days before i also get a phones call. And should i not be there to answer the phone they will keep trying until they have spoken to me or donated. I dont mind since i have donated regualrly for last 2 years or os without fail i dont see why i warrant so many reminders lol

I never get the hassle from the "telesales" people. Colossal, who is semi regular doner gets the works - phone call, post card etc. The last time someone phoned I tried to make an appontment for him, but as I was not him they wouldn't do it. I had to promise to send him him down the road on the designated day.

Blood donor session at the Rangers on Sunday, May 30th. They've rung me up to ask if I'm going and sent me a letter to tell me that they're going to send me another letter a bit nearer the time.

They usually say the old ones are the best but in this case certainly not. It may have escaped your attention we no longer have a gas board nor do we have town gas!
