I have certainly done the injecting of drugs. :)
Not sure about the tattoo, it was nearly 13 years ago.
I'm often hungover when I go.
But what is your other fact...?

Well. I arrived for my 10.55 appointment and was met by a friend who arrived five minutes later without an appointment. He was processed ahead of me all the way through and I was done twenty minutes late - there may be a moral there. When I was finally attended to, the young lady asked 'Give me a fist', before commenting 'Little prick!' and then requesting that I 'Keep wiggling gently for me' - her badge was not clear about whether her name was Nurse Bell or not...

Apparently, there is still a blood shortage, despite removing vast quantities from me on Sunday. The common or garden O- is what they want in particular, but the Welsh seem to require some of the very top grade A+ variety as well..

Does anyone know what the cut-off age is for giving blood these days? Used to go regularly but haven't been for many years, think I may be too old by now, in body if not in mind. :(

The limit went up from 65 to 70 in 1998 but there is now no actual limit, it will depend on what state ( they think ) you're in...

They change the rules almost daily, though. Best to check at the time..

Ring them on 0300 123 23 23.

Over 70 you need to have given blood in the last 2 years to carry on donating, but up to 70 its you they want.

And you have to have made your first donation by the age of 65.

There is an element of flexibilty in the rules, it seems. There's apparently supposed to be at least 16 weeks between donations, but the gap between my last two was 13 weeks.

I'm not that bothered about who gets mine, but, if I ever have to have some, then I would rather like my own fluids back..

Thanks for this, I will give them a call. I managed about 30 pints when you only went twice a year so hopefully they will let me come back to give a few more, health troubles permitting. :)

Went to rangers at 4.30, I was second on the bed, not as busy as it has been but quite a few body's there,
warm and inviting and I had a nice chat to a young nurse about the kindle I was reading while giving my fluids,
being able to read with one hand is very handy!

There will be blood at the Rangers next Sunday, 3rd.

I tried, and failed, to get various appointments for then, but I was just going past today and noticed that they were there now - so I called in on the off-chance and went straight through in the fastest time ever. Barely had a chance to down the compulsory pint of squash.

I had the same nurse as last time and she asked me to "Give me a gentle fist" this time....

I went to donate blood at the Rangers this morning, with an 11:10 'appointment', only to be told they were running fifteen minutes late, which was as clear a lie as if Jeffrey Archer had told me. The truth was that they were running an hour late, which was fairly remarkable, as they'd only been open for an hour at that stage...

One poor chap was trying to give his first donation and it looked like it would take him well over two hours to get out.

A chap asked me to give him a 'big fist'. I said I would do my best.
