I havent read the whole thread here but want to add my point - im a landlord and before leaving the UK rented my property through GDH. the lady there (i cant remember her name) was extremely helpful and after i had probably 12 months of pain free renting... then one call i realised she had gone..... a few months later and a change in tenant i had late payment issues from the tenant. i asked to threaten them with eviction and after this happening for nearly a year, and repeated requests for photos of GDH visits, i never not replies i got so annoyed i moved to MArtin & Co. i heard that they had received complaints from GDH landlords with the same experience.
i got it officially handed over to MArtin & co the same day but i found out the following :
- GDH had lost the keys to my property
- their accounts Dan MacCarthy had refused to pay the tenants bond over
- they hadnt done visits for 2 years.
i hounded this Dan guy for months but no luck. i dont think its ex-employee going.. the problems and downfall from GDH appeared to be this Dan guy keeping hold of money - i think they were in financial strife a long while before they went into administration.
as it turned out the tenant had been paying all rent on time so glad i didnt kick them out... when you are a landlord like me, overseas, then you want absolute confidence. i should have questioned why my contact left the company.. i am currently in contact with the ombudsman... good luck tenants, and as im not sure if GDH are still trading any landlords reading this move away from GDH and quickly
