As for the HS2 route going slap bang through Cash's Stone constituency I reckon that the Government aided by the Lib Demmers have done so on purpose - teach the old goat a lesson for constantly making Eurosceptic mischief.

For anyone interested there are a number of Action Groups on Facebook campaigning against HS2 - predominantly Marston Against HS2 and Hopton Against HS2.....both pages would appreciate any support you can give them.

It seems that because the proposed line doesn't obliterate our town centre, the general consensus locally is "it doesn't affect me".

The Kings Bromley Against HS2 Action Group were informed that there would be 1 million m3 of surplus soil to "get rid of" from the Kings Bromley area.....and I assume a similar amount will need to be shifted from Stafford......now, I'm no mathematician so some kind sole has calculated these stats for me.............

1. 1 million m3 of soil converts to 1.6 million tons
2. An 8 wheeler tipper wagon carries 19.5 tons
3. Running for 50 weeks in a year 5 days a week
4. It would need 328 wagon loads a day (A DAY) to move this amount in a year (14 per hour 24 hrs/ day each way so
28 truck movements an hour over 24 hrs!
5. This doesn't take in to account the rest of the material needed for general construction.

Just what Stafford needs!! A bit more traffic!!
