I know Gareth told me off last time I suggested the developer has cash flow problems, and blamed 'the council' for the delay, but I'm still hearing that it's funding issues holding this up.

Marks and Sparks cannot be built until SCC build a retaining wall around that area to stop land from slipping from the dual carriagway side (which planning permission can be seen).
Remember excavation will be deep due to the underground car park.

Enjoying a drop of red.

So, in which decade do you think this will ever happen?

It all seems to be :blah: and no action from SCC/SBC.

Let's hope LXB hasn't turned into a UXB..

The first news item was the newsletter guess working based on previous information. In december 2011 plans were in the process of been drawn up to accomodate debenhams ( who have signed a lease), they wanted an extra floor which plans were passed on in August.
Councils and media were the ones giving dates even though on one occasion lxb had not confirmed who wad undertaking the work. Government also needed to approve this development which happened in September and planning was only submitted to SCc for a traffic regulation on a 6 week lane closure on that side of asda ( this has yet to be passed).
Let alone a closure thay side would wreak havoc as the inside is going nowhere on an evening outside asda in the uttoxeter lane due to the blackheath lane backlog.
I have emailed a colleague at lxb for an update but until permission is passed for the lane closure nothing will start as vehicle.access is required at 3 points.

So it looks like it is still going ahead albeit very slowly? How long is it supposed to take to build once it has started?

it actually on paper should be very quick around 70 weeks which is fast if you look at the roadworks on the a34 edge of Stafford started in Jan 2013 should have finished in june but will go until next month and be back again before March.

Of course developments never go to the planned timeline.

If you look at some of the weather foecasts for the impending winter, you could see any immediate work being delayed further.

If you think that Riverside is going to start before this winter is over, you're having a laugh.
I'll be surprised if it starts before 2015

Depends how long Winter, floods & pestulance last for, eh....
Was also wondering where all the plant etc will go while they work on the Kingsmead side if the back end of the car park floods?

The area round the back of Love2Love and the Express has been fenced off with 'Demolition in Progress' signs being put up on the said fence.

Plans just submited by lxb for northwalls housing and health visitor( vacated fully last week) demolition for extra 150 plus car park spaces as a temp measure.
Riverside car park will lose half capacity early2014 and will be non existent come june or July.
Multi storey planned finish feb 2015.
